Just got my motor rebuilt, including a new ACT clutch. They also replaced the slave cylinder and master cylinders and bled everything. Just got it back yesterday, shop did a few hundred miles break in and I put a few dozen more last night.

Start the car this morning and I cannot get the shifter out of gear. It is completely seized. The pedal has pressure, but feels a little stiffer than I remember, but I've not had the car for even 24 hours. The RPM's then began to drop like they were under load so I cut the engine off and called my builder. I figure the clutch is not disengaging. He thinks it could be the forks. (He's on his way to my house right now.)

    Thoughts?

    And problem solved.

I think. He pulled the clutch pedal up and depressed it again and it worked fine. However he said the spring keeping the pedal out was missing.

Nope. Stuck in gear again. Either stuck in or locked out. Brand new slave cylinder blew.

[/doublepost]So we're on the 3rd slave cylinder, the theories are

-there are contaminants in the line which caused the grommet on the reservoir cap to swell, and it may have damaged the seals on the slaves and master cylinder
-there's air in the line and the system needs to be reverse bled, so pump fluid from the slave and force any air to the reservoir
-the pressure plate is faulty and not adjusting correctly

Please tag anybody else that might know about clutches and shit.

TOB, arm, ETC. It's normal for the clutch pedal to stay on the floor if there's no return from the pressure plate (slave disconnected from trans but still connected to line, etc).

Ever heard of any issues with ACT street lite clutches? I wanted to go with OEM, but the builder pushed me towards the ACT.

I've heard of issues with just about every clutch; what your particular install is having a hard time with, I couldn't really say.
You could start by locking the slave fully open and seeing how much movement there is in the arm, or watching the arm while someone actuates the pedal.

How important do you think this clutch pedal spring is? My builder told me I didn't need it but mostly because he forgot to put it back and said it would take an hour to get back in.

I would definitely have him put that back in. Also I believe I read once in a clutch install thread they were having this issue when they put the clutch disk? Pretty sure that was it, in backwards.

If you disengaged the shifter cables can you shift the gears using the actual thing that sticks out the tranny (technical term)? I can shift my tranny with the car off and no foot on the clutch with some love so maby the cables are binding?

The spring returns the clutch pedal so i would want that. Sorry but this kind of thread makes me happy i kicked my ass installing my own stuff.

Well it's 8 o'clock and last he told me he was too busy with other people's cars to come get mine. Unless he's going to come really late tonight he just stood me up, glad I waited around all day to make sure I'd be available.

I'd be willing to bet he will be blowing you off permanently unless you offer money to fix the issue (which should be on them to fix anyways for free since they fucked up).

I'm thinking the same thing. I've never argued or haggled on price, just on options, clutch or no clutch, EGR delete or no delete, etc. I'm over $6400 paid to them, and another $800 for when ATP rebuilt my turbo.

I said I wasn't in a rush but it's been well over 3 months, and several trips to their shop. He keeps telling me they'll make it right, but I don't even have full confidence he either knows how or is willing. Probably burned all the profit on this job on the botched block, and the one he "purchased" from Jeff on an IOU. I can tell he doesn't want to spend anymore time on the car, and now is blowing me off. I think I'm pretty justified in being pissed off I have a $7200 paper weight in front of my house. It's like he's irritated with me for being upset. I'm not really sure what to do at this point, because if it's internal, I know sure as hell at this point he's not interested in cracking the transmission open to fix it. So either I try to do it in my driveway, or pay somebody else a premium to diagnose and fix the issue.

    There's only one option now.
Pull your dick out, put it in his butt, swish it around a bit, then wipe it all over his face.

    Then post the video.

Just picked it up. He was very apologetic. I wouldn't send him off with my car if there was animosity.

I'd still check the glove box for dookie in a doggy bag before you leave with it.
