The other day l took off the RHS air scoop in the front grill that directs air up into the top mount and found a blanking plate on the plastic frame section under the air scoop (see pic's). I was able to easily pop out the plate with a screw driver which should now let a little more cold air in close to the intake.. Just thought l would share as l had never seen this one before..

This "mod" needs a little more explaining...

That plastic cover keeps air tight and sealed so it goes through the radiator, as opposed to going around it. By removing that plastic cover, you can create a leak which will prevent air from pressurizing in the front, and stray air will seep into the engine bay.

2 negatives, 1)potential to run hotter coolant temps. 2)adding potential for even more lift than what these cars already suffer from.

You can keep it off if you want to experiment with your car, but watch coolant temps on the AccessPort or whatever monitoring device you might have. You may notice a small jump in ECT's.

The hole is for a battery vent in the standard models, see pic IMG_2940.jpg

A friend of mine has as an RS Focus and he was looking at the Big Mouth so that’s what got me thinking so when l saw the opening with the blanking plate l thought bingo. I must say l don’t know much about how this would effect the air over the radiator but its used in the lower models as shown in the pic above. l was of the thought it would be a little better to get some cooler air close to the intake as it gets wat hot in there, someone may need to do some testing.. It would be awesome if someone could design a Big Mouth scoop like the RS one to fit..
