Yeah. Get your hpfp, and do any other mods. Then order your tune. On the stock turbo you'll see the biggest hp gains from an intake and 2nd cat delete. The cat back doesnt do much. Catless downpipe would help turbo response and get you maybe another 10 whp across the board. But at your mileage, if you go full catless, the turbo my smoke.

Okay! I have bumper to bumper insurance for 4 years so it's only $100 to replace basically anything. Might just go for it and pay $100 and get a brand new KO4 unless I should just go bigger turbo. I was thinking after internals, get a FMIC. Would that be ok? Or do I need mods before a FMIC?

Fmic isnt a bad thing to have but they're kinda expensive. I've never had one. I would do a downpipe or 2nd cat delete before a fmic.

But make sure mods domt void your warranty. Or at least be able to easily revert to stock if something goes wrong.

I have life long family friends that works at my local Mazda dealership and they are very cool about mods on my car, so that's super beneficial!

Is the stock tmic good? Or should that be upgraded some day?

I run an upgraded tmic, and always have. Justin @ freektune told me it was worthwhile but cars have made great power on the k04 on the stock tmic with an ethanol fuel mix. If you run 93, the tmic might help a little. I never really tried to make big power on 93 and I dont have experience with the stocker. Id figure out who you want to tune the car and ask them what they think

Alright! Getting paid Tuesday, so I'll get my hpfp ordered! I was thinking of buying a used one off of someone that hasn't used it much just for cheaper. Unless you rec just going straight from Cobb

I would get a new set so you have the warranty behind them and you know they are clean and in working order

Flip a coin, neither CS or AT really has a documented failure. It's all personal preference or whichever you can get a better deal on.

Your mod list to make the car a riot should be. HPFP, Ebay DP, 3.5" intake, Tune. That will be get you all you want out of the ko4. A fmic on ko4 is not going to be a game changer. I ran the stock tmic on CS turbo and still made good power.
