Has anywhere here successfully stopped a BNR S3 from creeping by adding a catted DP?

My speed 3 is currently creeping to 24 lbs on 0 WGDC. I do have a HTP 3.5 inch intake, M2 catless Dp and CNT 3 inch exhaust.

I already ordered a CNT catted DP to install on friday.

Just trying to see if anyone has succeeded in stopping their S3 V1 from creeping. And going EWG is not an option. Thanks.

That's a lot of creep. Have you thought about porting that wastegate?

Yeah. i will see what the catted DP does first. I don't feel like pulling the turbo currently. Or at all. But if I need to then I will do it.

I believe @Redline has had this problem and solved it by adding a cat

Adding a cat is one of the solution.

I had no creep when it was warm. I got creep when it was cold. Threw on a cat and lost 15-20whp. That was unacceptable. So instead I installed a Guardian Angel and methanol. Now my IDCs stay in check if I creep, and the GA will trip if I overboost too much. I've never crept higher than ~25.5psi, and my ethanol tune is set at ~25, so it's no big deal. And when creep from my 93 octane goal of 22psi to 25psi, everything stays in check. In fact, those 93 runs feel the best, LOL.

The permanent solution is to either port the WG hole larger, or go EWG. If you have a large, free-flowing intake and exhaust, you're much more likely to creep if you're catless, especially if it's cold outside. I was NOT okay with throwing 15-20whp out the window, though.

I was OK throwing 10-20whp out the window because.......

    cat.

Also V2 > V1. Revisions were small but noticeable. I could only imagine the rage that would've occurred if my exhaust housing bolts decided to back out.

I had this when I first installed my V1 BNR S3 with base map. 0 wgdc spring pressure only and was spiking 22-24 psi. I am catless and 3" TBE with a 3.5" intake as well. @rfinkle2 was able work his magic and manage it. I also run a guardian angel set at 24 psi as a precautionary

Thanks for the input all. I am personally fine with losing 15-20 whp since this is my slow daily anyways and I am only shooting for 350/350.

I will try the catted DP first. Debating on pulling the turbo this weekend too to port the WG hole.

Just FYI. Part of the difference is obviously because non-catted I built more boost, but this will still give you an idea:

I was on a 200 cells/inch Magnaflow metal cat. You could go to 300 (more restrictive), or down to 100 (less restrictive, but may not kill creep enough). Hope this helps. (BTW, this was on 93)
[doublepost=1456855028][/doublepost]Summertime ethanol difference. Our summers are VERY hot, so my 350 or so in the summer is 380 or so when it's cool:

When u added they cat, did u retune or just left same tune and thats y u lose power? I just added a cat on mine and i lost 10-15 hp but i need to bring the boost back up. Might even have to run another psi or so to get same power

It was an apples to apples comparison regarding the E28 tune. The goal was to see what exact losses I got from the cat, so it was same timing/boost, as you can see in the second graph. That tune was done, and I didn't want to run more timing or boost on it because I was already at the point I was comfortable in terms of pushing things.

A little more boost may have been added to the 93 to make up the difference, but I figured what's the point? When I want to make power, I'm running ethanol anyways. And higher power on 93 makes the cylinder a lot hotter than higher power on eth/meth. I don't want to tempt fate.

Sounds like you had too much pre-load. My base map with 0 WGDC showed a flatline 14psi base spring pressure. I'm V1 too (in my sig.) Supposedly the V2s have ported WG holes and creep isn't as much of an issue (if at all). Hopefully a V2 guy can chime in, particularly with regard to boost levels in sub-freezing temps, because that's when creep is the worst.

I adjusted it already and took all of the preload out.

Have you moved the wastegate by hand to confirm it opens all the way and isn't binding or hitting something?

What kind of intercooler do you have? ever since I went to air2 water intercooler I have been hitting my boost targets then slowly climbing up. starts at 24.8 and creeps to 26ish
