    Just for anyone interested...

I had been mulling over ways of tightening the crank pulley bolt according to the service manual while also feeling more sure that the timing remains and that something doesn’t get broken. I’ve done it before and I have a tool to hold the pulley in place, and I’ve seen a number of different methods, but I wanted a solution which felt better.

So I decided to try this Bauer corded impact wrench:

I was able to keep all of the timing tools in place and it achieved the 90° rotation pretty much exactly (after 73ft lbs tightening).

Best way without power tools out of car is to hold the other end of the crank, if the fw is installed, the starter gear with a tool is ideal. If no fw I've used a bar between the fw bolts(I use bolts I don't plan on ever using again). If in car, put it in 6th gear and have someone hold the brakes.

Of course, make sure all tools are removed during final tightening.
