The inner rice in me, 19 inch Advan GTs look good. On anything we track around here is running 17s in various widths.

Oh ok. Can't deny that the speeds look good in 19 inch wheels with a drop.

    Old thread, but worth revisiting.

Still K04, but fully tuned on E85 making pretty good numbers (with the "rear ended by a bus" torque onset the little huffer is known for). The S4v2 should be here any day now.

I had Kumho ecsta 225/40/18 and they were good on a mostly unmodified car. As soon as I got it tuned they were useless.

Went with Potenza 245/40/18 next. They were better, but would still go to full roast in 3rd.

Now running 255/35 Pilot Super Sports. Best tire I`ve ever had (and believe me, when one of your best friends is RVP for Discount Tire, getting to try out good tires isn`t an issue). Sure, if I just rev and dump it redneck style and it`s going to liquify just about any tire in first and second. But with the PSS if I`m smooth with the throttle they`ll bark a little in 1st and right into 2nd but they hook up almost instantly and it`s off like a rocket. The NT05 might be a softer tire, allowing us to be more careless with the throttle, but the lifespan is shit. And with the AirLift bags in the back the car doesn`t squat and the PSS hook up like a drag radial (once they`re a little warm, of course). They ride comfortably and are super quiet as well.

Made me laugh when I got the PSS and drove away from the shop the first time. I used to run drag radials on different cars back when I didn`t care about getting less than 10K miles out of tires, and I`d always hear pebbles and whatnot being picked up by the tires. The PSS do the same thing, only they`re a 30K mile tire and I just had a little chuckle about it.

My experience matches Jeff's. I was telling him all about Michelin PSSes because he was going to go Potenza S-04s beforehand. I did too. The S-04s are great, but only went about 18k miles for me (with good alignment). The Michelin PSSes do everything better, and last longer. In my view, for a performance DD, there is no better all-around choice. They win every top-10 competition of their segment (Max Performance Summer). Google it and check it out. The S-04s almost always come in second.

Not the cheapest, but when you factor in $$$/mile, they're actually very competitive, price-wise. And you get proration on replacements under 30k miles if you abuse yours or have bad alignment.

Some tires are stickier, for sure. They also may only last 1/3 to 1/2 as long, too. For me and my preferences/goals, the PSSes are a no-brainer - great for a DD, and they really take advantage of all my suspension mods.

Now if I'm on a track, I'd go Sport Cup 2s or something else.

I ran both kumho v720 and pss. The kumho did better with straight line grip when i put on s4. Wore very fast and were crazy loud though.

The ones you have for your drag tires are good I believe.. 17x9 for the truck may have to fender roll depending on offset but there's a whole nother thread about that somewhere

Yeah but they only work for dragging. Don't have anything for lapping.

I meant that brand, obviously you'd need another set.
