I'm trying to make my cars a bit peppier down low by trying to spin the turbos a bit faster in those RPM intervals where they don't do anything or not much, like 2200-3000rpm.

However, I ran into something that I'm not really familiar with and I don't want to experiment on these engines. When tuning with the VVT with Versatuner I noticed that for my CX7 the maximum allowed VVT angle is 35, while on my 3MPS BK (gen1 speed3) is 30 (and same for the MS6 platform).
These engines are 100% identical from a concept stand point (the difference with mines is that one is forged with a DCR VVT, the other is stock with OEM VVT pinion). So the tuning parameters can also be exactly the same no doubt, the reason why VT allows different max values without entering the unsafe mode is probably the time when they designed these sections of their tuning software and nothing else.
But I wonder if they did that with safety in mind or after gaining some more experience, thus the more relaxed values for the CX7 which had support later than the Mazdaspeeds.

I know that the VVT allows about 38-40 degrees of angle before actual metal to metal contact, so I was wondering if there's anyone else commanding 35 degrees de-phasing on the VVT as I intend to do in the 2000-3000rpm range in the low load sections.

You might want to tag @steve@versatune alot of the people that dive this deep into it are not on the forums as much.

The max values are arbitrary. At the time we did not know the max range, so we went with the max value in the stock table.

If you have definitive data about the max safe range, we can update the max value limit. In the mean time, you can enable "unsafe" values and set the VVT values as you see fit.

Since we are discussing max values. Do you know where the Gen Juan speed 3 can rev out to on VT? Does it just keep using the 8k values or will it cut out?
