Yeah, sharp tones. Not much louder I don't feel, but I like the tone better.

I've been real happy with my STR.t's. I've got mine paired with Cobb springs.

Thanks! I actually want to join the 17x9 RPF1 army, but I do like how the RX8s look on first gens. Need to redo my plastidip job on them, though; or just paint them proper.

You should paint them for sure. A buddy of mine painted his RX8s a sweet gloss anthracite gray for his black gen 1 and it looked absolutely killer. Way better than plastidip.

I'm leaning that way since I really like the anthracite look on red; I dipped initially because I was considering trying out some different finishes but I'm pretty sold on this combo, really. The glossiness didn't seem to last too long and is all but nonexistent now, but I did put a couple coats of gloss over the anthracite when I did them last summer and it looked quite sharp when it was fresh.

Need an opinion. I too am looking at the S3 or S4, but leaning towards the S3. What are everyone's thoughts about using a larger turbo without a Guardian Angel? Yes I know peace of mind is good, but I'm running an HKS and like the low to no need of maintenance on that part.

I ran an s4 with no GA. Why do you prefer the s3?

Thanks for your response. Im leaning towards the S3 due to it being cheaper. Slightly lower spool more and more in line with hp goals ATM.

S4 has more potential, cost that much more. I got yhe s4 blew my motor and am now rebuilding. S4 will now be the weak link if I want to push further. Kind of wish I went bigger. Just something to think about

So to sum this up; larger turbo+no GA=FUBAR?

Becasue I'm an idiot. Didnt torque crank bolt right, jumped timing, oil pump stop pumping burning up cylinder 4 rod bearing, destroyed crank. Took motor apart 3 out of 4 cylinders ringland broken. Not sure if it was a result of not getting oil or they were toast anyway
