Transmission issue

I recently got a 2008 Mazdaspeed3 with 89,xxx miles on it. I was told it needed a clutch and slave cylinder. I was talking to a friend that knows the guy I got it from he told me his son shoved it in gear trying to get it home. So my question is how f#cked is the transmission? And is there any transmission parts available to rebuild it or is a used one the only option?

Once my friend told me they forced in gear and that was the reason they had it towed. I was worried it was going to be more than just a clutch. I'm going to start to pull the transmission out. Thanks for the reply Easter Bunny!

how's it shifting with the car off?

Not running it feels fine. With it running when your releasing the clutch it starts to pull then stops once you let off the clutch.

What is the easiest way to get transmission back in when the time comes? I had some issues getting it out the back of transmission was hitting the sub frame

oof; Luk is oem clutch pairs well with the fidanza flywheel
last trans I did I had two jacks under it to get it up into place been years since I did it cant say I have any great tips

I think I'll need to replace the flywheel it has a lot of hot spots and I was told these ones can't be resurfaced.

oh I would absolutely replace it, OEM pilot bearing, OEM slave cylinder, luk clutch and fidanza flywheel hold well. the OEM clutch holds to about 400 wtq so should be plenty. don't forget the new flywheel bolts.

tip for when bleeding clutch it has a separate reservoir within the brake res that you need to be at / above the full line to get fluid into so overfill then suck the extra out after your clutch is bled.

also I doubt that previous owners son was hard shoving it into gear, my guess is he was doing burnouts and smoked the clutch hence the disintegration.

I currently have the LUK/Fidanza combo. Bit noisy clutch out and not in gear but otherwise a solid pick.

Also the Ford trans fluid doesn't last super long, but is very noticeable in shift feel improvement.

Where did you get the Luk clutch from?
I see the flywheel on Dimond motorsports website but no Luk clutch.

the luk clutch can be had from rock auto for a decent price, edge auto sport sells a fidanza + luk kit for ?$1159 without the pilot bearing and fly wheel bolts. Forgot damond started offering the action clutches honestly for the price they're offering the action fly wheel+ bolts + luk clutch I'd be inclined to go that route
