Hey guys just wanted to tell you about my dipstick story. So oil was originally leaking from the o ring which i know is a common problem. Long story short my dipstick tube broke off inside the sleeve attached to the oil pan from rust or thin metal. I ordered all the parts from priority mazda and just wanted to let everyone know that the sleeve will come out. You need to work it either with channel locks an twist/pull or puncture a hole in it an pry it out. Then tap the new one in lightly with a small flat head hammer. Hopes this helps someone if there’s breaks off like mine did.

Something similar happened to me after I did some work (had the intake manifold off) but I didn’t notice it until I saw a mass amount of oil on the road after I took the car for a test drive :) I obviously had dislodged it at some point in the repair and reattached the bolt holding the dipstick to the intake manifold without realising it wasn’t in properly.

I didn’t know about priority Mazda (I order from a local dealer) and so I’ll check them out for the part.

I like to see posts like this, sharing experiences rather than problems.

Luckily, with the lack of a catch can and almost 20PSI of boost, my dipstick tube stays oiled and limited in rust build up.
