Longtime MSF lurker. Short term MSO lurker. Found a Speed6 in Canada completely unmodded (can I speak MSF here?). I'm entertaining the idea of getting back into the madness but I'm having doubts and I came to tge only place to talk me out of it. Unmodded Never tuned Even wear on all four tires He's Russian?
Unmodded will mean stock pcv and egr so the valves will be filthy, as well as the intake manifold. You can pull the turbo outlet hose to see how oily it is if the turbo is leaking. With how old the car is, rubber parts will start to deteriorate. Garage kept will age slower. Also need to get it on a lift and check out all the rust and do an inspection, check wheel bearings, tug on control arms, sway bar links (ez and cheap), exhaust condition, rear differential oil? Check for any oil leaks so get up in there with a flash light. You can get a pre purchase inspection and also do a compression test, check VVT/chain. Perfect tire wear is a good sign - the alignment is good. Test drive and see how the shocks are. Miles? Check trans grinds. Depending on your area you might need to have a safety inspection which can be a pain since they will find silly stuff wrong so factor that in. Brakes need a minimum thickness for example.
Too bad it wasn't in a barn or we would be set! It's a bit far from me but thankfully a friend lives close by and took a look. - Confirmed that rust is at a minimum which is unheard of up north - nothing on the exterior, just some hidden corrosion gems like under the hood. - Found the first lie, catback installed but oe downpipe. Corksport RMM installed as well. No accessport, no HPFP upgrade, no intake. - Car has 144k miles (not maple syrups) and has proof of VVT work. Turbo is stock and I think is burning a bit of everything. No weird buildup or leaks anywhere. - it does have collision history. Friend says it drives straight with no weird noises. Report says bumper was replaced and hood painted. You can see the hood is a bit off but bumper you'd never know. That's all I got for now. Guess we'll see how badly he wants to get rid of it.
Dang. Well if you want a gen 2 speed 3 and not a 6 I know a Canadian that's looking to sell their pu this year, it's a bit of a drive from BC tho
Found this one in Oregon. Damage history too. https://www.copart.com/lot/45694134/salvage-2013-mazda-speed-3-or-eugene
