Well i never did a build thread i kind of just did it and took pictures with the intention of making threads but then never doing it. So basically my build is a rods pistons and full bolt on with a 5858jb PTE turbo kit. mods in sig except for head work and cams. Tuned by nishan to 34 psi taper to rl (7.2-7.3k ). One day i was cruising down ocean parkway when a new or pretty new zl1 camaro started fucking with me. He gets the hit but i couldn't reel him in we just stayed even but since he gets the hit i cant pass him. he did this to me for miles on a 2 lane road So i did what any normal car owner would do. I bought go faster parts to make my ego feel better.

As soon as i got home i got a plan for a used head to port and get some CS cams. so first things first i need some springs to get more rpm so i got new crowers and a used set of retainers (thank god new is like 400 bucks) drove over to sp63 and had them do the head work. I tend to do things backwards and make things a lot harder then they have to be so i ported the head AFTER it was machined..... I got some racers tape to protect the seats and sealing surfaces. I removed the valved and cleaned it all out while having a shop vac pull thru the ports to keep it nice and clean. Nothing crazy just some bowl work on the 4 small intake bowl and port patch the intake and exhaust.

So at this point i checked my valve lash on the bench [IMG] so i can get them for the install. this was on 6/24. I still dont have the tappets yet...... my car is still on the jack stands. At this point i was like fuck it i am going to swap the head and do as much as i can while i wait. So now i get to the head i take the VC off and the cams then i see this. Son of a Mother fucking puppy fucker..... cant catch a break.

........... I was told by a few people that it looks like a lubrication issue. It was only on this one journal so i am thinking the old shop that did the head 3 years ago when the build was done fucked up the clearances on that cam jornal or used a different cap or something cause if it was a oiling issue it would have reared its head else ware but everything else looks good. no radial play on the rods no cyl wall damage all my squirters are there. I dont have the balls to remove a rod bolt or a main to check bearings. There was a small amount of piston slap but ive always had that since new from the sounds it makes. Nishan also told me he has the same noise and its piston slap when i saw him so thats reassuring.

Anyway all this prompted me to buy a ECO Boost mustang pump since pablo told me they flow more. He also told me they dont fit a mazdaspeed so i bit my toung there and did my own research. I was talking to another member here that has used it and said it worked for him but unfortunately MSF is gone along with all the info regarding using this pump on our motors. It has way more flow after looking at the difference between the gears. so hopefully if there is a issue i can overcome it with more volume. i am also switching to a 40 or 50 weight oil after this. I never let the car go low on oil and always use the same shit.
my oil pressure is 80 lbs at cold wake your neighbors start up. idles at 18 when super hot and gets to 50 while crusing. i could see if there were large clearances at the cam with 18 or less pressure during extended idling it may cause scoring.

All that i have left to install after i get the tappets are pulleys (2 idlers , tentioner) alt, water pump,intake/boost tubes, time the thing and install the hpfp. and obviously install the timing cover and valve cover

I also took the opportunity to install some dei wrap on the manifold and DP.
20200702_202717.jpg It looks like a fucking arabian dressed turkey...

and for some reason i dont know why the pictures dont all show when there large i usually just post links from a sharing site after getting the dpi right but thats not happening now so i fail at uploading as well as life.

Well........ i finally received all 14 buckets and to my surprise i fucked up the conversion from inch to mm!! oh happy day. this meant that all my clearances were 2-3 thou to small across the board. This also meant that i might have all the tappets on hand since they were now in the normal range of my spare heads. So hey no big deal it was just a 130 bucks and a month of waiting because i am stupid nothing to bad........
so anyway i do all the clearances and time the motor and throw on some fresh gaskets [IMG] then i decide to install a samwich plate instead of my MD oil sensor adapter for piece of mind. I never liked the hose approach as if it fails so does the motor.[IMG]. So its this point i start it up and BOOM (in a good way) 80+psi oil pressure[IMG] plus once its hot i have 30psi at idle!!!!!! i used to have 15. Another awesome thing is that i had a clank clack clack at idle witch was caused by the old heads fucked up cam journal so now thats gone and the motor sounds awesome. So far (other then the buckets) everything was going awesome. I use shit oil for 20 mins then flush it to get rid of the assembly lube and use 5w-40 with some zinc additive and off i go to do a log. so i get to my spot and put it in 4th and all i hear is vrrrrooooo sputter rrooo spuuter sputer sputter oooommm sputter..... Fucking blowout. i stopped my my old stereo shop to say whats up and look things over when i spot a pool of oil inside my pass rim..... Then all over my PMM then i see a little hole with no bolt in it staring me in the face. its the one that simply plugs the hole for the chain tensioner release catch. it seems i forgot to put that back in. I fucking remember to looking at a little bolt after being finished and saying to my self "WTF is this for? oh well must not be important"... lol.

I left the old plugs in that worked good. I guess the added air flow = more gas witch pushed me over the thin line of blow out. I have always had blowout issues but this one got me off guard. So i got new plug's gaped then to .023 and same shit...... so i brain storm and decide to do a comp test on a semi warm motor [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]. looks good to me so i put new plugs in gaped to .018 and extend the copper rod mod since maby they pushed in and arent making good contact and got corroded[IMG]. That fixed it and man does it pull hard to redline. The cams alone moved so much power to the top end that it felt great. Now i just have to snatch a log and continue on. I also bent my spare dip stick tube so i can mount it properly and reach it [IMG] and treat my self to a new dip stick!

so the Ecoboost oil pump F2GZ-6600-A Works with out motors. Its confirmed and it DOES provide more oil pressure for 1/3rd the price. I bought it for 65$ thru edge auto sports.
