Here we go again my friends, with yet another installment of MazdaSleeze.. So, on today's episode we are discussing why my '12 MS3 is against me. So for those of you who haven't seen my previous posts, nor care to dig, I bought a '12 MS3 that was fully loaded with no knowledge of what I was actually getting into.. here's a modlist FMIC swap VTA BOV 3" HTP inlet with stock MAF 3.5 BAR CS MAPsensor Autotech HPFP internals PCV delete on Intake Manifold for OCC(unfinished) as far as I've been able to tell, that's all there is now THE PROBLEMS The car is currently parked and has been for the past several weeks as a tuner buddy of mine has been helping me try to dial in the MAP/MAF calibrations. The car will not hold idle, we thought it was the calibrations being so far off due to having to delete the tune that the previous owner had on it because of VT deleting all the logs I had before. All my fuel checks are good from what I can tell, the engine fires but it refuses to hold an idle. I have KOEO logs as well as attempts at starting. The car ran before I parked it but had terrible issues with dropping into limp mode randomly... We need some serious help, any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'm not 1 for quitting but this is becoming a gigantic issue for me..
Have you tried a different MAP sensor? The CS ones have been known to fail and that would definitely make the car unhappy.
Have they? We thought we'd try different values to try and make the sensor read at a 3 BAR setting. i did order a Bosch 3 BAR, just isn't here yet. KOEO logs have the map registering at 2.03V. that just doesn't make sense to me unless it's either a wiring issue, or ya i guess the map sensor itself.
Get a protuner. In the past 14 years of owning a speed, we've seen buddies blow up or jack up the tune of a car countless times. That may mean well, but this may be why
well, I say tuner buddy but he's a lead tuner at his company. May not be on the VT etuner list but he's very knowledgeable and attentive
Ok so quite a bit has happened as of late, I apologise but I was never good at keeping a diary. SO, my tuning is going well, on my 5th revision so far. But I've been keeping a close eye on my occ because I've noticed it collecting quite a bit of fluids lately. Ram a compression test 185/180/115/165. Now cylinder 1 was a bit oily so I definitely need a new valve cover gasket, but cylinder 3 is poop. I'm pretty sure I'm either looking at injector seals or ringland failure of some kind. Any suggestions?
So I've had luck with using seafoam for cleaning valves in the past. What're your preferences or methods?
Not that. I'm using chemtool B12 to soak. Corksport blaster kit to clean. Check my Neverending love/hate thread.
Well honestly, with the state of what I've seen from this motor in not really trying to go for much more than stock until I can save up to get some beefy internals. Turns out I've got low compression in cylinder 3 anyway (115) so probably gonna rebuild cpe/manley pistons anyway
Well I've kinda stopped the tuning process once I learned about my compression issues. I'm not stupid
