I'm looking to purchase a 3.5'' intake. A lot of people recommend HTP but it doesn't seem like they are selling intakes anymore. Some others that seem reputable are JBR and CS. If anyone has any experience with their intakes, let me know. I noticed Damond Motorsports also has a 3.5'' intake but it is a non-recirc intake, where a BOV is required. Does anyone have any input on whether that would be a good choice?

Can't speak for the others but my Corksport 3.5 has been a champ in terms of durability and being easy to tune. With any metal intake though would wipe it out with some brake clean or other solvent as you'd be surprised how many metallic bits get hung up in there during manufacturing.

Also should probably mention; there's some heater lines right around the turbo, some folks (myself included) need to extend one of the lines in order to make room for the 3.5" pipe. Would strongly recommend getting a metal splice connector to extend those hoses if you need to. I had a plastic one at first that warped and failed, dumping a ton of coolant and had to get a tow home.

I've got a CS 3.5" intake delivering tomorrow, so this is helpful to know! Will the heater lines be reasonably self explanatory when looking at it?

oh yeah, they run right under the inlet of the turbo, if the pipe hits it you probably need to extend it to prevent rubbing.

Sorry for opening this thread up again guys but I wanted to ask if it’s worth buying a 3.5in intake to replace the Stage II Power Series Short Ram Intake from Corksport I have on now regarding power wise and stuff? I’m pretty much full bolt on with a CST4 turbo but been thinking if it’d make a noticeable difference going bigger on the intake.

I had a 2.5" but ran out of air. JBR 3.5" went on, got 3 bar map sensor and tuned accordingly. The only negative I had was it is very tight with the 51r CS battery box. Other than that. It's solid.
HTP seems to have ended Mazdaspeed product production.

Did you feel the difference once you swapped out the intake? I was looking into the JBR3.5 and getting their box from them as well.

Yes it's absolutely worth replacing that Corksport Stage II intake. I was on BNR S2 Gen 2 on a built motor and using that intake. Best we could do was 281 WHP and 330 TQ.

A 2.5 intake on this platform can not let a larger turbo properly breathe. I'm on a 3.5 JBR now and currently tuning a S3. As Raider mentioned you will run out of air. Nishan has a video on YouTube explaining why this happens on this platform.

I am using the stock battery box with the OEM sized battery with the ECU relocated to the top of the fuse box and everything fits fine. I have a Gen2 for reference.

Awesome thanks for the input! I’ll try to get that 3.5intake ordered when I can and do the same thing with my ECU and save on the battery box.

I have some pictures of the ECU relocated in my build thread. As Raider mentioned its a little tight but it's not too bad. I can pull the battery box out of the car pretty easily to work on things without messing with the intake.

I wanted a HTP intake as well but they are no longer making anything for the platform as was mentioned. I went so far as to call them because I was willing to wait but no dice.

I’ll check out the build thread forsure thanks a lot. And yeah I did notice a lot of people having the HTP one but I’m sure the JBR works just as well.

The newer tunes opened a lot of power. I like it. I just wish it fit my cs battery box better.
