No clips. Warm day, grab and peel. I use a rewards card to carve in and get it started if needed

Alright fellas I have good news, and bad news.

Good news is I checked my exhaust, and both cats are still there, so that's great news for me, but the reason the car was jacked up in the first place is the bad news.

Well today coming home from work, tired as always. I'm turning into my community and as I shift up, at 3.5k rpm my front wheels lock up for a quick second. When it did that I panicked and left it in neutral let the thing roll to a friend of mines house who lives right by me.

From there I was panicking pretty hard and having a heart attack thinking my transmission is broken it won't take any gear even stopped.

So I flip out, and just say I'm going balls out and use the very last clutch left to force it into first, and clutchless drive my ass home. About 7/8th of the way there the clutch sticks all the way down and I got too nervous to continue onwards.

So call my dad for help. He comes over and like a champ gets my car home. I was searching for an hour and couldn't find anything. And in my last ditch of hope, I pop the hood again and I see something at the very bottom of the bay on the plastic. A fluid that, so I dab my fingers in and and smelled it. That smell is definitely clutch fluid. So I Jack up the car, I wanna see how bad I'm in.

Took the plastic off on the bottom of the bay, see the master slave for the clutch, or whatever you might call it. Well I say that thing super moist and wet. I went back into the car and put the clutch to the sticky down setting. And went back under the car.

And what do you have it, it's really leaky. $46 fix but the car is undrivable and I have work tomorrow and Saturday, so I'm pretty screwed.

So how do I know for sure that it's only the master slave?

(edit) lol $46 was way off, I get to the place and it's $138. Great not it costs even more money, and to top it off I don't even know how to replace it.

@GOTTHEFUZZ welcome to the forum. 650 is a lot to drop on a car after you've purchased it, but it'll save you the headache and head-scratching for when something isn't right. Also a flash/OTS tune from one of the reputable e-tuners is far better than the stock mazda map... even if you're mostly stock.

Here's video to show you how to pull the HPFP.

OE HPFP internals have a shaft that's the same diameter along the entire length; aftermarket internals will have a shaft that's two different diameters.

First off I seriously want to thank all of you for being seriously awesome, everyone was offering help and that's super cool. I never thought forums would be dependable and willing.

From what I thought I kew forums are notorious for being, you know, not so great. But you guys proved that wrong. Super quick to locate members who would be willing to help.

So luckily enough today I had a friend of mine take me to work at 4am so I have to give props to him too.

Alright now back to the car and it's status, well it's currently on Jack stands in my garage. The slave is off of it (my God this is the most perfect place for this thing) it took me all of 5 or so minutes to take this off with a power screwdriver, a flat head screw driver and a 12mm ratchet wrench.

I took apart the slave out of curiosity to see exactly what was wrong, and honestly at first glance it was pretty hard to tell, I thought for a second I had misdiagnosed it. But alas with a closer look with my flashlight I saw a broken O-Ring. Here let me show you.

And this is how it looked mounted

Well although I may not be able to get it running today, simply due to the fact that the part didn't make it to the store yet(should be in at 8)

But even with the bad news of not having my pride and joy it's overwhelmed by my content with how easy it is to take off.

I'll definitely have the car running tomorrow, but that'll be after work. But is seriously want to say thank all of you for helping me with advice and with offers to physically help. You guys are epic!!

    So much peepee touching.

Glad you're enjoying your stay so far; the "other forum" has a nasty rep for hazing and driving away newbies who ask too many questions, so I think most of us are trying to avoid falling into that same trap over here on MSO -- fresh blood is welcome for sure

Metaphorically speaking, of course....having been a medical type for 20+ years, well let's just say I have experience in clinical applications of said "touching"....we won't go into my "war stories" on this forum.

Alright so i need emergency help right now, so I put the new cylinder on. Let me make a little time line to sort of explain the situation. I'll have these listed in sets of pumps.

Set 1: I had to pull the clutch in and out for this set as to be expected.
Set 2: again had to pull the clutch up for this set aswell, but liquid was coming out of the bleeder.
Set 3: had to pull the clutch up until the last two or so pumps.

by this point I thought I was making progress because now the clutch was coming back up even if it was only a little bit.

Set 4: again I had to pull the clutch pedal up like I had to for all the previous sets however right after that it was getting firmer.
Set 5: oddly enough again I had to pull the pedal back up for the first pump, and all the other ones pushed back.

On set six I start realizing something is wrong, because no matter how much I bled the system and took out air that first push of the clutch always stuck to the floor. after pulling it back up and pushing down it would be fine, very VERY soft clutch but it pushed up. and now im stuck in that loop where its stuck for the first push then is super soft for the rest, then when you bleed it, its back to square one of set 6.

so I have absolutely no idea what is happening. Oh and I should also mention that the clutch line that connects to the slave cylinder there is a plastic fitting on the tip of that fitting there is supposed to be a small O-ring (from what I can tell on pictures) can anyone confirm this?

because without anything there when you go to pump it just squirts out of the plastic fitting because it has no way of putting pressure, with that being said I salvaged a real fat O-ring from the broken slave and used it as a spacer, like that it would hold some pressure. I am at a blank right now, and I need serious help, because I just have no idea what to do.

Did you use a power bleeder or did you just watch the brake reservoir and fill it?

pumped it by foot with a bottle, an a small hose onto the slave nipple, I tried driving it just out of desperation, and the clutch slips at anything past 3k rpm.

It's a bitch and I would guess you have air bubbles in the line. I could ship you a power bleeder if you want, but I'm not sure if you can be down a couple days.

I apparently had one that my dad bought awhile ago.

So I kept at it this morning and honestly nothing, I got switched little but heated at the stupidity of the situation and started tearing out the battery and ecu to see if I had blown the master cylinder too, but nope it's fine there

this is with the new pump installed
    [IMG]
And this is how she is sitting right now, while I try gravity bleeding it.

    EDIT:
Well guys I am sorry to announce this, but I am dropping the transmission tomorrow, I tried narrowing everything down, and everything on the outside seems to be functioning right. The only thing that gave away on the outside of the motor/trans is the slave cylinder.

and it's all functioning well except that the clutch stays halfway engaged, and the clutch is just not right, like play at the beginning of the throw then a huge spike of stiffness, from there it's just too soft. it doesn't feel firm the whole way down like before.

I am going to assume throwout bearing is shot, if not but ill be ready for the worst. Which brings me to my next few questions, with the transmission being outside, are there any mods I can do to "Buff" the internals, so they could withstand a beating. I am a pretty spirited driver.

You could replace the shift forks with ones that replace the plastic pads with brass. Not sure if imoto or anyone still does it though. You can also replace clutch/flywheel if you were so inclined since it'll be down. That's about it for the tranny.

This brings me to another question, when you push the slave piston back, and try to shake the fork, do you have alot of play? are you even supposed to have any play?
