    Hi All
Got a 2010 Velocity Red Speed 3 here, 2nd owner.
Car had 45 000 miles on it in 2017 when I purchased it , now at 71 000 miles ( Made time time for some fun rides)
Car already had a custom s/s turbo back race pipe and k&N drop in filter with a local tune on it.
Now I won't lie, the tune was a bit ridiculous as the throttle was just like a on/off switch which just resulted in spinning in 1st ,2nd and sometimes at the start of 3rd gear.
So I got a Obd Link MX device and Torque app to monitor and take some logs just to see how the tune was.
Well.. unfortunately I was seeing quit a lot? up to 4KR at about 4000rpm .
Then I tried without much success to stay out of boost for a while and over time I upgraded to COBB RMM
    and Damond Motorsports PMM .
Then I noticed that my car was smoking at idle.. Got the Damond Motorsports Banjo Bolt.. that helped a bit.
It was only after getting the Cobb App that I was able to up the idle a bit and solve the smoking at idle problem.
Next up was the Freektune OTS+ tune . Wow suddenly my car had progressive throttle control and not just a bunch of boost all the time . I could drive like a normal person now.
And that brings us to the present.. currently busy with a Full Freektune and received my first revision from the Base map. Car feels good.
So hoping to learn a lot and enjoy this platform.

Welcome! I'm a new member myself.

Tell me a little about this; I was interested in getting an OBD monitor but wasn't ready to get the Cobb AP yet. What are your thoughts?

Well I actually first just got a cheap Chinese ELM 32 I think it was and that worked fine for Torque Gauges.
I then got the OBD Link MX to get better read rates for taking some logs.. and yes it was better than the Elm .
If you just want it for gauges then I would say that the ELM is not too laggy.
The Cobb Ap however is miles faster giving you many more data points for logging, plus you can flash custom tunes.
    Hope that helps

Thanks for the insight. I think the Cobb AP might just have to be the way I go. Especially if I want it tuned later, might make things easier. Righteous, thanks again

If you want to tune yourself, Versatuner... if you are just going to get professionally tuned (preferably by one of the vendors here) then go VersaTuner Lite. https://www.versatuner.com/features/mazdaspeed-3-mazda-3-mps-gen2
Now that the OBDLink SX is available it's easily the best option. I'd just go VTLite if I were doing this again right now but knowing what I know now.

I do monitor with the AP on trips but normally monitor with Torque, which means I also have OBDLink LX/MX which can also now be used to flash which is pretty awesome!
