Yea so maybe I’ll try the rad cap then?? I can only think that a bad headgasket would cause the car to push coolant.

A rad cap would also cause it. For $20 I’ll go pick one up tomorrow and try it. We’ll see. I still want to do a leak down test which I may get to do tomorrow. We’ll see if that says anything

You'd probably wanna do an exhaust gas test on the cooling system if you suspect the head gasket.

I’ll have to pick up one of these test kits I think. That would confirm

Thanks for the insight. Probably tired rings.
When I pull this head I’ll send it to the machine shop and have it looked over. It was just rebuilt but better safe then sorry

i doubt its the head, at the mileage (kilometerage?) you have i would also assume rings.

Having trouble finding one of them combustion leak tester kits. I can find the tester, but the fluid is sold separately and it seems to be a pain to find. Of course lol

Struggling to get this leakdown test sorted out. I cannot seem to source a compressor.

Pretty soon I’m just gonna pull this motor and get the party started. Hate sitting waiting doing nothing like this when things need doing!!
    Drives me crazy.

I did get a new rad cap as well. Is it worth a drive to test? I’m not sure

Lap footage from this past Thursday. I had a 1:12.55 earlier in the morning. After that I discovered the car was pushing coolant and the rest of the day was kind a write off.

here is the fastest lap to date that I got video of from this past Thursday. Not bad but I know there is time left.

the data from my 1:12.5 lap was real real spicy lol.

Doesn't hurt anything to give the radiator cap a try. Might be tough to make enough heat on the street though

I’d have to do a few pulls then maybe idle until the rad fans kick on at 208f. That should do it. If not I do still need to make a trip to the dyno so maybe that’ll be a good test. I’d love to go to the track once more this season

Just gonna leave this here for you all.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say I’m extremely shocked and impressed by these results.

basically on my tester the gauge on the right starts at 0. You set that when you hook up the compressor. Any leakage will show.

looks like I’m seeing almost 0 leakage across the board.

Test was performed cold. Car hasn’t started for more then 24 hours

Honestly the tester is broken. No motor has zero leakdown

I fucked around a bit and rotated the crank to open valves. it showed leakage and I could hear it.

I don’t think it’s truly zero. Probably around 15-20%. At least this shows me it’s not massively broken? I don’t know.
Gonna hit the dyno next I guess

Dropped the car off yesterday at the shop. Gonna hit the dyno this week at some point.

The car did push some coolant on the way to the shop but coolant temp did not exceed 190f. I’m thinking there’s some head gasket issues going on here.

After the dyno I’ll start pulling the motor.

The candian dollar is going to shit(or more shit) in a hurry so I think I’ll be forced to begin ordering my final pieces sooner rather then later.

Spent some time today cleaning up the garage getting it ready for my civics heart transplant.

First up was a power washing and iron removing for my track wheels/tires. These will be moving down to my basement now for winter storage. Fronts still have at least 1-2 trips to the track left. Rears still have plenty of life. Probably 3-4 more events.
    265603F3-A253-4762-9985-541D88ADFFBE.jpeg

I dug out my engine stand. It’s ready for assembly.

With the Canadian dollar continuing to fall/struggle with signs that it will be falling more soon, I am forced to purchase my big ticket items asap. I will most likely have to use a bit of a line of credit but that’s fine.

Valve train to be purchased asap
    Cams to be purchased asap
Reached out to the camshaft manufacturer for a quote and eta. I believe these cams are built to order so there may be a wait time

these are the most expensive bits still outstanding so I would like to order those now and save myself the hundreds of dollars of price increase that I know will be coming soon.

Once my car comes home from the dyno next week, the storage tires will go on and that’ll be it. Itll go on the jack stands and the engine pull begins.

    Stay tuned!

Turns out the Japanese yen is at an all time low.

My initial pricing on the cams was around $2000cad.

I just received a quote for $1380cad shipped. Turns out, now would be the time for me to buy everything from Japan. Stuff like the timing chain is 110usd currently. So like 170cad.

Toda heavy duty timing chain from Japan? $160cad lol. Guess I’m doing a bit of an order here.

Cams are a 2-3 month wait. I guess they gotta go into the mountains and forge these bad boys for me. Sick lol
