It is crazy loud inside the car lol

Yea I got no idea on this. Uploaded the clips early this morning. They all landscape on my phone so idk wtf

I think the spring rate is proper. The damper is not the best but vs the ktuned stuff most Honda guys run it’s night and day. Had a buddy really hating life on Friday with his brand new ktuned setup he bought. The car would never ever settle. Not even a little. Bouncy bouncy

It’s a known issue on my car. ABS module sucks. If you pull the abs fuse bias shifts rear and it’s instant spin out.
Less aggressive rear pads will hopefully help

That's interesting so it's almost like they want the rear to engage abs all the time if the rears are so strong

Something to do with the biasing. It’s done through the abs module I guess

Saturday I was at Mosport Grand Prix track. This is an old Canadian F1 track which to this day is still the fastest track in all of North America. the TCR civic type Rs with 300hp and 240wide slicks average 105mph....nuts lol

Ive never driven here before this weekend and of course it was POURING rain the entire day. We made some changes to the car to remove all of its attack. Less alignment, rear sway bar on full soft, my street wheels/tires/brake pads. 235 square hankook RS4s.

Well time for the break down of Saturdays School day. This was in fact an HPDE event/school.

This track does not allow people to run laps WITHOUT sign off from a school/driving course. You need to pass with flying colors. Sign off is to prove that you are a responsible driver capable of following the instructors direction without issue. This includes giving other drivers space, giving point bys, and just generally knowing how to drive. This track demands a healthy respect and i learned that yesterday. Near the end of the video you will see the car steps out on me. The camera angle is not optimal but i am counter steering like hell. My instructor calmly calls out "that was over the limit" which made me laugh.

I had a coach with me the entire day and most laps were spent learning the line and all the little tricks and tips of the track. As the video clearly indicates at no point was i going full beans, maybe 6/10's at absolute max. I am on throttle WAY late, lifting way early, carrying no speed. The point was to learn the track/line and pass the test. My goals were to drive the car home in one piece and to pass the school.

This is also the only footage i have without the windshield wipers on. It really did rain the entire day. You can see the track is starting to dry but its still extremely slick with puddles/standing water everywhere. The Hankook RS4 tires really hate the rain/wet. There is no more nerve racking feeling then being above 120kph and feeling the front end start to drift away. The tires really were sub optimal. Ah well.

Its hard to see in the video but this track is ELEVATION to the max. we have a 22 meter drop in turn 2, and something like 18 meter drop in turn 4. Basically every corner is blind and loaded up with camber. Positioning the car is SO important and if you understand weight transfer it makes sense. You need to be turning in and ON THROTTLE before even seeing the apex in most corners. If you lift or brake...it can be trouble. By far the most challenging track day ive ever had

I have not received my official report/sign off but i was told by one of the guys i know on the inside that i did in fact pass with flying colors so that is amazing.

    Few notes on the car,
The understeer heavy setup sucked. It felt like junk but the point was to make the car easier to drive and build in some room for error which worked fantastically well. Setup really does matter even more than the sum of ones parts.
The car was able to pull over 1G while cornering which is obscene in the wet on the tire i was on. Really shows the car has such a high ceiling in the grip department.
Top speed reached was 190kph lifting early(cause fear LOL) and with terrible exit from the final corner. I believe 200+ would be a non issue in full attack mode in the dry.
The cars fastest laptime is seen in the video where i lift on the straight away to point a guy by and i am having a casual conversation with my instructor.
Some crazy guy built this machine with support of a few other guys and my my its working well

Does this opens up a lot more venues for you to run? Was the instructor really helpful to give you heads up or track pointers or are they just clearing you for track use?

This just means I can attend any event here. Time attack or other. There are a few time attack events here every summer so I’d like to be able to have the option of going. Plus I’ve always wanted to drive this track and the school was actually the most affordable option.

The instructor was necessary for the sign off. He wasn’t really showing me speed just basics. I wasn’t shown any wet line. We were using the dry line which had no grip and meant I was pretty limited. He gave me a few useful tips but they’d have been more useful in the dry lol. Ah well

First ever CSCS time attack event today. What a day it was lol

    We had a fantastic day.
First off I will start by saying I wasn’t the most prepared in the tire department. With no time to have my stickers mounted I sent it on 4 track day old tires that were hanging by a moment. I ran 2 qualifying sessions totaling 18 laps. My competitors turned over 50 laps each throughout the day. I wouldn’t have made finals had I done the same.
    IMG_5266.jpeg

I fought between P1 and P2 most of the day swapping places.

When finals came it was the hottest time of the day, conditions weren’t great and my transmission/tires were not happy. That’s ok I still gave it my best shot and we ended up here, 3rd place.
    IMG_8479.jpeg

1st place was an FK8 type R with all the bolt ons. 2nd place was a BMW M2 with also bolt ons/tuning. He had a lot more tire too which helped. I need a 275 on this bad boy

It was an incredibly tight day time wise let me tell ya. Here’s the top 3 times from finals
    IMG_5263.jpeg

Best time of the day was a new PB with a 57.45. I couldn’t string it together in the finals unfortunately. I’ll blame my tires. Wait till you see the picture of those

I was outgunned with my knife in this gun fight but all this does is go to show you…seat time and setup babyyyyyy!!!

Next up I’m gonna take a break. Been a few good track days lately. I was out on Thursday and ran a really good new PB lol.

I need to recover some funds now. Also need to pull out my transmission and fix it. It’s pretty broken right now LOL. Brakes also got funny mid day so not sure if they just need a bleed or what. Pedals soft so hopefully just fluid that I boiled but typically not an issue I have in this car. Just bled them recently. Hmm. We’ll see

Nice. Why do you have the front plate bracket installed with now plate? Are you required to have a front plate on the road and required to remove it on the track?

Street car so of course I need plates. In Ontario here front and rear plates are mandatory.

We remove the plates for the track. Insurance companies sometimes send spies to the track to take pictures. If they find you out there that’s it. Insurance cancelled. So we remove plates to be safe.

The plate mount offered a nice place to mount the transponder too so that’s ok

Had some fun at the track last night. With my suffering transmission and my cooked tires I was just going for fun at this point. To support a buddy who’s just getting into track days and he wants all the seat time lol.

It was stupid hot. 38c with humidity. The asphalt was so hot I could feel it through my shoes lol.

Some how still managed to run at pace. Matched my PB even with the sub optimal conditions and all the traffic. There were a lot of groups of cars out tonight mostly all new people lol so I traffic was unavoidable. Ah well. It was a lot of fun and the car was great! It’s fast for what it is. Always draws a crowd of people asking what’s done to it lol

Looks like your flying. Can't believe how much the suspension is moving. Is the track really bumpy?

This is the only track anywhere that allows it. This is called “open lapping” basically wild wild west. I hate this place lol but it’s very available for cheap lapping. They also run some competition events here so gotta get some laps in at this place

High corner speeds for sure. Doing what I can.

This tracks a piece of shit for sure. My cars way too highly sprung for this track. For a lot of the local tracks anyways. I’m considering a spring rate change this winter. We’ll see
