06 MS6, all the mods, BNR S3, spicy E30 tune, blah blah.

Car has been off the road for a long while because it has a P0303 and constant KR as soon as the knock sensor activates, probably broken ringland judging by the endoscope. The COVID bullshit and getting laid off finally cured my car ADHD, so I sold all my other cars, and bought a $750 beater.

I called up Overspeed Motorsports, talked to Jordan for half an hour (he's a maniac), and ordered his basic 600HP build. Now, 7 weeks later, he shot me a text saying it would be complete this week, so it's time to start the thread.

So the plan is to do a little maintenance, then throw the new motor in with my old setup that I know well. I'll be moving to PI and a larger turbo late this year or early next year, that timeline mostly depends on part availability.

No track/strip/auto-x, just a fun commuter.

Engine being wrapped up, will start tearing the car apart this weekend.

    Engine is in the mail.

Did the first hour of tear down after work.

Smooth sailing til I looked at the radiator drain plug... I said to myself "that's gonna snap right off" ... so of course it snapped right off.

    Yep. 20201113_194739.jpg 20201113_201207.jpg

I know I started this thread red-hot, but work is taking over my life.

I've only got 1 day off over the next 8 days, and prolly 6 more days off in 2020.

The engine is 80% of the way out; I was waffling over breaching the AC, but it's gonna happen, so the old engine will be out on Tuesday.

After that it's gonna be a grind trying to sneak in an hour here or an hour there trying to put everything back together... 10 hour shifts don't even leave much time for jerking off.

Lost the Harbor Freight lottery on my shope crane... one of the holes in the 1/4" steel is too small for the supplied bolt. I found a decent replacement locally, but the sun was going down and I'm a weak man, so I left it for another day.

@TiGraySpeed6 (I wonder if he'll ever see what I did to his car) I guess decided to leave the rear engine hanger off, wish I woulda spotted that before I was ready to pull the engine.
    20201201_090822.jpg
Took all the exhaust mani nuts off and pried the manifold just enough to get the hanger on that I found in my huge stash of MS6 parts.
    20201201_115033.jpg

All that time I spent in the garage with my thumb up my ass staring at everything really paid off; I got almost everything but a couple very minor things disconnected before the motor mounts came off. It was actually way easier than I expected it to be, and all my harbor freight tools worked great, so now this piece of shit is out:
    20201201_164756.jpg

Now I gotta strip it and get it to Overspeed ASAP, so I'll start that after work tomorrow.

2 months later? Damn, what happened? I was workin 6 days a week, so not much got done other than the rest of the tear-down and packing everything up.

Guess I'll toss in some highlights and then move onto the future.

    20201201_161801.jpg
You're in an MS6 thread, so maybe you know, or maybe you don't. This is the only thing you really need to disconnect in the front suspension to get the engine out... I talked to 3 MS6 experts that didn't know this trick, so stash that nugget somewhere if it's not already.

    20201208_091013.jpg
Intake valves gunked @40k miles even with an OCC and EGR delete. Lesson learned.

Guess I didn't take any pics of the injectors; the CPE seals came out no problem, showed no signs of leaks.

    20201213_140429.jpg
Just about smoked this oil drain bolt trying to get it off, and that's with the engine out of the car, fuck that drain.

Lots of sticky grime in the bellhousing...

Leaky. Also, spot the mouse shit. fuckin rude.

Now I'm up to date again. I originally wanted to get running on my BNRs3/XSpower setup, but after losing 2 months to work, I decided that the car should prolly go back together with a new setup that I've been buying here and there, that way I can do a lot of the work while the engine is out. It makes sense in my retarded head.

Shit I bought for 500AWHP goal:
Way too much maintenance shit to list (really, it's brutal)
Damond mounts (the car only had a CPE RMM)
    ACT ZX5-HDG6, streetlite flywheel.
    AEM E85 340lph ITFP
Clean direct injectors + seals from Overspeed
    FocusST IM, Damond adapter+PI kit
N2MB WOT box, Split Second AIC1-V4H
    Pulsar Gen2 GTX3076R, dual v-band, .83 AR
CPE EM + downpipe (they'll prolly never ship these)
    Tial MV-R 44mm WG

    Shit I still gotta buy:
    4"->3.5" reducer for HTP intake
3.5 bar MAP sensor (prolly, can only read 28-29 psi now)
Bigger intercooler core (not sure what will fit yet)
Intercooler piping to modify the cold side (prolly)
    4 port injectors
    Fuel lines and fittings
    Electrical wires and connectors (prolly)
Random shit that's gonna come up (definitely)
