    Hello everyone,

After a long hiatus from autocross I am going to get back into it next year. A couple weeks ago I picked up an 09 rx8 GT with 95k miles on it. It’s in extremely good condition, I have stacks of receipts of every service and part that was put on the car.

Last weekend with the help of @JohnnyTightlips we replaced all the end links, tie rods, coils, plugs, and wires. Also have already installed versatune on it as well.

The goal with the car for next year is to be competitive/win locally. Unfortunately autocross isn’t all the big for how large our area is. Also get the car setup how I want. I am extremely impressed with this chassis though, just the spirited street driving I have done it’s very well sorted and seems very easy to find the limits, and when you find them it doesn’t punish you terribly for going over the limit.

The RX8 forum isn’t super active so thought I would create a thread here as well.

Awesome! I've been on the lookout for an RX8 but every one listed near me is usually a part out and automatic.

Been debating between a rotary for my next project or a Mazda B2500 truck decked out for survival mode. Looking forward to seeing your build.

    Rx-8 is a great chassis

B2500 has the 2.5 Lima ford motor I had the ranger version and it was an outstanding car do yourself a favor and put Bilstein shocks on it

Got the new race pipe installed over the weekend. Was a bit of a pain but not to bad.

Nice to see a fellow RX-8/rotary guy on here. Rear muffler still stock? I've been able to keep noise down that way, but I'm also running a RB cat replacement midpipe.

Also how do you like VT? Mazdaedit was extremely fucky on that ECU so next year I'm switching.

It has a racing beat cat back, and an elite rotary race pipe. I do not think it is loud at all.

vT seems to be working without issue so far. I have only flashed OTS tunes though.

good times. yeah I may eventually go RB catback but im really noise-averse, and someone i know has the RB resonator/catback combo and it's way too loud for my taste. I may throw an extra RB muffler in-between there if I go that route.

Glad to hear VT is working well, have you tried messing with the tables at all? Mazdaedit had some tables where trying to change them would introduce a giant peak for no reason, like you are trying to change a column by 0.1 and it would just change it by 100x and you can't go back without resetting the map. I made do, but it was frustrating. VT seems like a much more polished product in comparison, from what I'm seeing.

How's your premix situation? There has been talk of making some sort of SOHN OMP adapter for the S2, because they changed it from the S1, it's always been my detractor from getting an S2 - I premix the S1 in the tank and run an OMP kit on mine.

Also, really good and fairly cheap semi and full-synthetic - made-for-burning 2-cycle oils are now available. The days of TCW3 are over, thank god.

I use either of the below, depending on when there is a sale. Amazon links won't post. It's Lucas semi or full synthetic 2-stroke. The key parameters are Jaso FC & FD (not rotary related lol) and ISO GD specs.
