Has anyone purchased a CX-7 transfer case from ebay? I'm concerned about buying a TC that has an unknown amount of mileage.

My second option is to try to rebuild the one I have. It has 100k miles on it but whoever had the car prior never did any maintenance and the sucker was bone dry. When I refilled it, the oil leaks from the seals.

Third option..? I'd love to hear thoughts. My plan is to rebuild either TC and get new seals and the graveyard rebuild kit.

I've used only CX-7 transfer cases as replacements. They're cheaper and are mostly a direct bolt-in. I wouldn't bother rebuilding an MS6 case - they're known for porous castings and will probably leak no matter what you do.

    To use a CX-7 case:
    1) The input shaft that just slides out by hand needs to get swapped between your MS6 case and the CX-7 case.

    2) The flange is a little thicker on the CX-7, but has threaded holes you can use. You'll need to get some bolts that match up with it.

I've always sourced them from car-part.com, just looking for low mileage units that are inexpensive.

Beast, thanks Phate. I have reached out to a few people on car-part and never received a response. I will try calling

I've always had to call, but tend to get super quick responses that way. [Have to remember these are junkyards you are dealing with.]
