    Hey,
New to this forum, not to the platform (~1 year)

I have been self tuning my speed3 and have been stuck in a dilemma.

We are all familiar with the cruising KR for fuel efficiency. Transitioning out of this when going WOT can be slow and results in triggering the commanded WOT (KR) Fuel table.

The problem with this is that, with a high flow cat, I am getting a cloud of black smoke with the AFRs I am running in the WOT KR table (11.5@3k->10.9@7k).

I am willing to lean those out, however, am concerned with situations where the car will actually need this extra fuel to save itself, as these numbers are not too far from the non-KR table (which does not emit smoke).

My question: Is the "Max enrichment allowed" map for runaway KR cases? Would that be the one that should be saving the engine?

    Thanks!

    Phil.

I'll let the gearheads comment on the tune aspect, but the smoke is normal at wot

Appreciate the information. I would be Okay with the smoke if it only occurred when the engine needed the fuel to stop knocking. Unfortunately, it is being triggered at the wrong time.

As in, cruising (KR for fuel efficiency) -> Floor it (KR decay starts) -> ECU access WOT fuel tables -> Go to KR table because KR detected. -> black cloud.

Personally havent used the fuel enrichment tables myself due to this. I just let it pull timing and call it a day. Granted, i also run an e85 mix constantly. So the car never really sees WOT KR

But to give you an idea. My k04 car, which will no longer have a k04 after tomorrow, on 93...targets 11.76 to 5k. Tapering down to 11.3 up top

Sho, thank you for the reply!

I am not sure I understand your first statement. If you are using the stock ECU and flash tuning, your car will have to reference those fuel tables. What function do you use to allow it to pull timing?

Is the K04 car AFR target range you listed for WOT map, WOT KR or Maximum allowed enrichment?

The ecu will pull timing equivelent to the knock count. So if at WOT, there is 2.0KR, it'll pull 2 degrees ignition timing.

Those afr targets are for wot. And i set those targets and the max enrichment tables to the same thing.
