Long story short blew the headgasket because I'm stupid back in June 2014. At that time I was stock block all the necessary bits for a Vband Precision 5558. August 2014 found out I was gonna be a daddy then boom death grip on the balls and car was put on the back burner. Fast forward a bit and I ordered a long block from SP63 in August 2015 to withstand 600ish end goal. Oh yeah death grip slightly released March 2015. Along with the long block purchase my one year boost sobriety kicked in and I ordered a JMF Manifold, JBR underside piping kit, tigs, TR8, MD PS Cooler, act 6 puck clutch kit, genpoo transmission, RPF1s, and a new driver side axle because again I'm stupid.

So fast forward to the February 2016 and I have all of the necessary items to get this bastard of a car going again. So obviously since things are going right naturally I should get a "wrench" thrown at it right? Correct! I'm military so like a week after everything finally arrives I get notified of a new assignment to Greenland which is fan fucking tastic. Obviously there is a down side though or else I wouldn't be saying all this shit...the catch I got to be in Greenland around the 1st of May. So now to present I've got all my non essentials sold house is now listed on the market and garage is semi organized so guess what LET THE WRENCHING BEGIN FUCKERS!

Decided that while the engine is out I'd pick up a front sway bar because duh. My factory hardware had other plans. uploadfromtaptalk1458768543564.jpeg uploadfromtaptalk1458768552006.jpeg

Didn't get around to working on the car today. Wife wanted a new car and since she supports the habit I had to do what she wanted. uploadfromtaptalk1459048180963.jpg

I'm curious: what's the long version of "blew the head gasket because I'm stupid"? Does it involve a puddle?

    Nice build, BTW

Now, this is a story all about how
My life got flipped-turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute
    Just sit right there
I'll tell you how my speed has been down for almost two years

But for real though, during my build the first go round the coolant hard line from oil cooler to the firewall hit the turbo. Decided i would turn the whole thing into a soft line since none of the nipples on it were necessary for me anymore (Throttle body bypass and K04). The thing about turning it into a hard line is that at the oil cooler its equal to a 3/4" hose and firewall is 5/8" hose. I had just run a 3/4" the entire way and and was going to step it down at the firewall at a later date. So two clamps on the firewall side later it had a very minor leak like id have to add maybe a 1/2 qt of coolant once every 2 months and i would know when i needed to because my coolant temps cruising to work would be different (Vegas Summer norm is 220ish for me).

So one day getting on the highway I saw it was at 230 and the gauge was at maybe 3/4 so I was like ok i need to add some coolant ill get on that once I get to work. The temps proceed to get to 238 and I turn the heater on full blast and decide to get off the highway at the next exit to get some coolant and fix what i belied the problem to be. So just as I'm exiting the temps had dropped to 235 so i figured that i was right on the money with my diagnosis but then as I'm pulling into the gas station the car just shuts off. Me thinking that i know everything still thought I was right and got it rolled into the gas station got out popped the hood to let it cool and went inside and got a gallon of coolant. I come out let the car cool for about 10 more minutes before I open the reservoir cap. Finally cooler I open it up and start pouring coolant and get to a point where i just hear it coming right back out and at this very moment in time it starts dawning on me that I'm (possibly) really dumb and definitely (maybe) not the genius that i thought.

WHERE THE FUCK IS IT COMING FROM! I'm thinking at this point so I start frantically looking around and see it pouring out of the nipple on the underside of the coolant outlet that originally routes to the throttle body. Me deleting the hard line forced me to cap this nipple off and on this day I find out that those caps are two part caps and whatever science rubber cap people use to connect the top dome to the straight part fucking failed (I STILL KINDA THINK I'M RIGHT...yeah fucking idiot right). Get the car towed to a friends house, run to Vatozone and buy and new bunch of caps, come back and replace this cap with another identical one, and then my next step was to try to start the car.

Just as I'm walking around to start it I remember that the car just shut off getting off the highway and in my mind I'm like that's not normal let me check a couple things real quick. So I do the blown head gasket steps oil cap no foam, pull the valve cover and see a spot that looks like it could be coolant and oil mix but not 100% sure, then pull a spark plugs and what do I see mother fucking piston pond right on the corner of my speed and I'm a dumb ass blvd. So things I learned that day, don't let engine essentials be set aside for "a later date" like i did with the coolant hose, the coolant temp should be used to assume how full of coolant the car is, and always pull over immediately and assess the problem even if you think you already know.

    Long story Fin.

Lol. And if that wouldn't have happened you might not be running a built engine right now. So I guess after almost 2 years it'll pay off and be an even bigger beast than it was before.
