Anyone know if this can be repaired, or is even worth repairing VS replacing? Any insight would be appreciated!

It looks like something got under the cap and ate a couple mm deep gouge into the cam and into the journal. It did not effect the cap because they have an oil valley built into the exact spot whatever made it in sat. Maybe 3 oil changes ago I saw some aluminum sparkles, nothing crazy but I cut up the filter and checked rod bearings and all looked fine. Never noticed anything after that until I pulled the cams yesterday, maybe 5k miles since I saw the sparkles. This is the 1st time I've pulled the cam caps since getting the car a little over a year ago. Prior to that it was never opened because it's a Dankai1 CS block and the guy who sold it to me kept records of everything and owned the shop that performed the work and has kept in touch with me since buying the car. He put about 20k on the motor before I got it.

If it was running fine before I would be inclined to just put it back together and run with it

So i polished all the cam caps and did my best to polish the damaged journal and buttoned it back up. No engine runs forever, and I'll say that cap will be getter more oil flow than the rest... just need to make it through the winter and beginning of spring so I can finish my other block and swap it out. This motor can get a new head then and move to my Cx7... I'll update it we get a catastrophe out of it!
