So after noticing coolant everywhere, I discovered a pin size hole in one of my coolant tank hoses (one of the 3 hoses connected to the coolant tank).. anyhow No big deal. I removed the hose and took it to AutoZone so that they could measure out and cut me a new hose, at least, that was the plan. It wasn’t until I was in line that I noticed down in one side of the hose there is what seems to be sum sort if restrictor, it’s on the side that connects to the coolant tank and it looks like a round pice of plastic w/ a tiny hole going through the middle of it. My question is what the hell is it and is it necessary? A regular measured out and cut coolant hose from AutoZone will cost me under 10 bucks but i don’t know if I can go that route or do I have to buy the $75 oem one due this little flow restrictor thing that’s inside of the hose??? I had read that it may be for helping the car warm up faster but I’m honestly not sure about anything when it comes to this little piece inside of the coolant hose. Any help from you guys would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!!!

So if u look at our coolant tank there’s 3 hoses, 1 fat one and 2 smaller ones that sit side by side, we’ll it’s one of the 2 that sit side by side… I went ahead and mended the original hose and put it back on so I am unable to show you a pic unfortunately. But yea it’s the weirdest thing I’ve never seen coolant hose like that. My “fix” will obviously have to be temporary and I’d love to figure this out because $75 opposed to $10 is a big difference..

I'm aware of the houses coming off the res, I don't recall anything that you're describing being stock when working on my mates gen1 (I have a gen2 never seen anything like that) so it's probably not stock but I cannot speculate on what it could be without a picture
