Hello from North Texas

Some of you will recognize the screen name from the other forum. New to the Speed 3, by no means new to performance cars. Been at it for 25 years or so. My 2016 3 was recently totaled (yeah, four months after I bought it), and since the Speed is what I was shopping for when I bought that one, I ended up getting one when the insurance paid for the car, and here I am.

The car has some minor mods. Had a corksport intake on it when I got it (I`m not a fan, but it`ll be on there until I have a need for the 3" JBR). I put wheels on it, H&R springs, new plugs and a Magnaflow catback. Looking for an AP v3 before I do anything else (has HPFP internals). Plans for the car are fairly modest. My first "stopping point" is the 330hp mark. Once I`m there I`ll re-evaluate and make a plan to get to 400 in the most efficient way without over taxing any particular system. Going to have Stratified do the tune.

Thanks folks ! It took me literally one day to start modifying the car after I got it (but then again, that`s what I bought it for). It`s curious how drastically the drivability changes with the tuning. The boost used to come on all of a sudden, early, and all at once...felt like getting rear ended by a bus. Now that I`m into the tune and the boost response is load based it`s much smoother and consistent.

Redline; what was the final hp number for yours before you upgraded the turbo? Gasoline or Ethanol mix at the time?

 

On E35, fully bolted, I self-tuned to 325/375 and stopped there. On 93 I self tuned to ~290/330.

 

Nice. That`s right on par with where I want to be. We could probably force the little K04 to make more but that hits the point of diminishing returns, where the consequences aren`t worth the reward.

 

Exactly. That was at ~20-21psi tapering to 17.5psi or so at redline on both tunes. The difference in power between the fuel types was due to the higher timing levels ethanol facilitates.

 

Hey, BTW....do you know where I can get my fenders rolled locally? I don`t need much, just enough to fit a 245/35/18 with H&R. The shop I have been going to for almost 20 years had their roller come up missing and it`s one of those tools I don`t want to buy, use once, and sit on forever.

They did a good job. Some of the seam sealant came off, which is pretty normal, even with a heat gun. Just goes with the territory, I suppose.

 

Cool, do you remember what you paid? I can buy a roller but it`s another one of those buy-it-use-it-once-and-never-use-it-again tools.
