Followed the tutorial to a “t”…sorta of. I missed the part where there’s a bolt on the front of the transmission to remove, I’m not sure what exactly it does but I can only assume that it would have made my 45 minute fight a bit shorter. But, I replaced the seal, bearing and the breather. Went back together quite well, cleaned all the parts and used the gasket seal maker for gear oil. The car will sit for approximately 24 hours before I know whether or not I did a good job, haha. But all in all, good tutorial and installment went smoothly.

Pretty sure I followed all the steps correctly however my shifter now feels sloppy and catches. It’s hard to tell the difference between 1st and 3rd which was not a problem I was having before the attempted repair. The plastic piece that OP was talking about falling off the shifter mechanism did break in half as I was putting it back together. The bottom half stayed, the top half fell out. Would this cause the problem i am having or was it a reinstall error? If so, does anyone know the part number for that tiny plastic piece?

Yeah that will for sure cause issues. I don't think they are sold solo. Reys Mazda Parts sells cable upgrades. Avoid the xcspeed knockoffs, total trash.
