I bought my MS6 from someone who didn’t know very much. He had bought it from an auction. It had definitely been tinkered with—lowered KB suspension, CAI, and some other things.

It occurred to me that maybe it had been tuned, for better or worse.

Is there any easy way to determine whether it has a factory tune? I was considering taking it to the dealership for them to ensure it has a factory tune before I consider any tuning (down the road), but I suspect that would be expensive. Would the free version of VersaTune allow me to determine that?

    Thanks.

I was just looking at VersaTuner and it requires Windows which I don’t have. I could probably borrow a Windows computer and I have a generic ELM327 interface in addition to a better ODB-II wireless adapter. So maybe I can work something out...

Run Windows in a virtual machine?

If the car didn't come up any tuning solutions it's probably stock tune, people unmarry ,(put stock tune back on) if selling the access port.

You really gotta get a build thread going to keep track of all this stuff for your car in one place.

    Ok, thanks for the thoughts.

I tend to create threads for separate ideas solely for the sake of others who may be searching for a similar problem. I don’t know about you, but I won’t look through 20 pages for answers if the thread title isn’t clear that’s what the pages contain :)

I borrowed a friend’s laptop today and decided to stop at the dealership to order a few parts and figured while I was there I’d ask the mechanics how much it’d be to reflash the car (just so I was aware).

He ended up checking the PCM with their fancy software for free :) It appears to have the latest Mazda programming.
