Yes, do it. It's an interesting test you're doing.

move it over, but you'll need to work on your data points to get a better pic. the oem bolt vs the SS bolt are in slimier locations the tmic stud is in left field. I would presume that this testing would be more conclusive by changing all bolts to an equal, and monitoring manifold surface temps.
Still liking the idea of where your going.

    Slimey locations?

TMIC stud was for the far removed from bolt hole manifold temperature, ala manifold surface temps.

I am going to try a phenolic spacer before replacing all of the bolts. Potential $7 spacer solution versus a $30-35 bolt solution.

I assumed you had the spacer in already. bolts are cheap, AP's spacer is good shit. phenolic with steel reinforcement.

Phenolic spacer for the flange on the bolt head. Already have a manifold to head spacer.

Swapped the bolt positions. Temperature delta follows as expected.

So SS hardware has less heat transfer to the manifold? and your using a phonelic washer on the bolt head

Correct. SS does have less heat transfer to the manifold.

Currently a phenolic gasket between manifold and head. Going to investigate a phenolic gasket between bolt flanges and manifold.

I remember there used to be a kit for the BJ proteges which included the phenolic washer. I haven't been able to find a picture though but the kit works well and was really popular. Maybe @Raider remembers who made it.

Small delay. The phenolic tube I ordered is waaay to small on the OD. ID is right on though.

Final results look to be at most a 10-15 degree difference in the manifold temperature. Not to be confused with BAT.

SS hardware, or just the spacers?

With both the SS hardware and spacers. Didnt check with just the spacers.

Handling both of them, I think the phenolic washers I linked to in the other thread are a better option.

The tube I ordered is ~.060 wall. Thats double the thickness that I would have wanted to use for the axial spacer that Voltwings is talking about. :-/

Would anyone be interested in what temperatures the fuel rail sees? Say, the passenger side bolts, the fuel line from the HPFP and the HPFP itself?
