hi i have a 2008 mazdaspeed 3 that i recently bought, its fully stock but when im in 3rd and i floor it at around 4000-4500 rpm the car jerks hard and wont pass it. it also does this when I'm in 4th to. when i accelerate slow the car has no problem passing 4k rpm. i just changed the spark plugs and its at the factory gapping i also changed the o2 sensor cause that was bad. i have one code that p2006 which is the intake runner stuck closed. the runs good no idle issue. its hitting 16 psi, it pulls hard in 1st and 2nd. i ask a mechanic and he couldn't tell me what's wrong with it. if anyone know what the problem could be that would be much appreciated.

Issue is probably related to the flaps on the intake manifold. gotta pop if off and check it out. If they are stuck then not enough air going in. So do not beat up the car until fixed.

Also saw this in my Google. P2006 Variable tumble control system (VTCS) shutter valve stuck closed IMRC - Intake Manifold Runner Control. Typically caused by a failing or failed IMRC valve, a poor electrical connection, damaged wiring, a vacuum issue to the valve, or due to carbon build up in the intake manifold causing the actuator to stick closed.

Like Raider said check your intake runner system for being stuck. You can remove the plate near the HPHP which has the switch on it and manually try to move the arm. You'll need to disconnect the vacuum actuator from the manifold in order to turn the shaft. If it wont budge that's a big restriction and preventing your engine from breathing enough air to run under heavy load.

I would also check your PRV as they are known to go bad and they will cause fuel cut issues similar to what you are seeing. I was able to drive like a g-pa for a week with a bad PRV as long as I did not get into boost. But as soon as I got into power at all it would cut.

Hpfp is high pressure fuel pump, the pressure relief valve (PRV) is what JohnnyT is speaking of and that's one of my first thoughts too, have to replace it with a new part.

But yes see of the flaps in the intake manifold are stuck closed if they are you can either remove them which give you a permanent code no worries unless you need to pass emissions

If you leave the black flapper control box plugged in there will be no code even if the flappers are removed

Make sure your air filter isn't clogged

i didnt get to check much because it cold and i dont have the space right now but what i did fine out, when i have the ignition on before cold start my fuel pressure is about 57 psi. but then when i start it it goes up 1600 psi for about 20 sec then drop to about 400-450 psi. is that normal or is the prv going out. i watch the video and there was like a whine but i don't hear that on mine

Key on engine off pressure is 55ish psi "this only uses the pump in the fuel tank"

Warmed up Engine at idle is 420ish psi " this is now showing the pressure of the hpfp which only runs when the engine is running"

Having this same issue with mine, already have part ordered. But just set up gauge on accessport for confirmation. At start up and idle mine reads 40-50ish the highest I've seen it read is 400-450ish only when deaccelerating. So obviously the prv is bad correct lol
