MS6 "coilover" spring seat

As part of preparing racecar for the first race, I quickly had to fabricate some spring seats for 2.5" eibach springs.
Originally, @xfeejayx; and I talked about advanced tophats/spring mounts incorporating spherical bearings, potentially a rodend, modifying damper rod location and extension. (As an aside, front 6 B6's have more compression travel then they will ever really use.) However, as the first race in Champaign approached we were short on time, and I produced these to fit the bill with on-the-shelf materials.

Despite looking ghetto, they are a solid when combined with bilstein coilover sleeves and 2.5" springs.
These pieces of plastic have endured close to, if not more than 100 AX runs and thousands of street miles without incident.




The design is simple. It's a 1/2" sheet of HPDE plastic (same material as cutting boards) that has been subjected to a ~2.5" hole saw and a band saw for the wobbly exterior circle. The spacer/ spring seat was clearanced for tophat studs.
I was given this piece of stock by a plastics store for free (it was cut-off), but you could pickup a similar piece for peanuts here:

As an afterthought, I added a simple setscrew to keep the plastic spacer/seat up against the tophat.
In the event that the setscrew isn't there, the spacer will fall down when both wheels come off the ground (i.e. when the front end of the car is jacked off the ground). During driving, the front swaybar will keep the springs in contact with the spring seat, preventing them from falling down.
