I am totally out of touch audio and such. Last time I messed with it was when I was 19 (so that's 20+ years ago). My stock Bose in my 2013 MS3 is starting to fade and the headunit is driving me nuts with its bluetooth lag. Looking to upgrade the stock door speakers and seeing what good options are there for changing the 10" sub in our spare wheel (if possible).

Really don't want to put a box in the back that will take up room as I use my hatch and I drop the back seats often to carry stuff. I'm down for also getting a new amplifier if needed.

Don't have a set budget, but let's just say $2000 on the high end with installation (my knowledge is severely lacking so don't feel confident enough to do it myself).

I bought the Eonon GA9463B for the head unit (seems to work the best with our cars and we retain steering wheel controls).

So did you want to swap out the head unit also?

For subwoofers, a few companies make powered subs that will fit in the spare tire. Not direct replacements but they should work.

Work blew up so I had to pause my audio upgrade hunt. Back at it again now. I got the Eonon headunit that fits perfectly like stock where my 2013 unit is currently at.

Someone linked me a walk through on making a fiberclass sub encasing into the spare tire area. Never worked with that stuff before, but it is rather interesting. However, if I can find a subwoofer that can fit in there comfortably that would be awesome and easier than having to figure out and fabric my own box.

The powered spare tire well subs are usually a premade unit that can just fit in place of the actual spare tire or within the center of the spare.

I considered getting a sub from a Nissan Rogue or something along those lines and just using the stock sub wires ran to the back.

I am also using an Eonon unit in my Gen 1. I think it's pretty good. Have you connected it through Wifi and updated all the android software/apps?
