Okay. I will call and check my order status today. And if it can’t be shipped today then I will probably cancel and call HTP.

I didn’t bother to mention this, but, I had first written an email to CorkSport Sales asking about MS6 fitment. After not getting an immediate response I decided to call. Well, this morning I got a response to my email that said this:

“In all of our testing and development, we could not get the intake to fit on a Mazdaspeed 6. It may be possible for you to make it work with some major modifications, but if you choose to do that, you need to know that the warranty will be voided and we will not accept a return if you are not able to make it work.

    Regards,
WILL MCDERMITT | WARRANTY & SALES SPECIALIST“

But, again, no real details what the alleged issue is.

So, I responded to Will’s email, and I finally got a usable response:

“The recirc valve and the coolant hose will want to occupy the same space as well. If you go VTA or modify the hoses then you can find a way to make it work.
    Brett @ CS”

I do have recirc, but the hose is routed different than stock because I have the JMF manifold. So, no worries there.

I just got off the phone with CS. They said it is boxed up and going out today when the shipper comes. So, they are in stock. I will post pictures when I get the thing.

Hmm. Maybe I should switch to PTP or RamFab. As far as the shifter cables towards the turbo, I seem to remember having to adjust that to get the old 3.5” to fit. Your #2. For #4, the harness, I also did some of that for the old 3.5”. I’m not worried about the #1, the coolant hose. But the #3, hmmm. Don’t know about “Rey shifter cable”. I guess I can look into that. Or, give up and try a different intake. Thanks for the input.

I did a search for Rey shift cables. They seem like they are probably awesome. But probably not available. I sent a message to him on Facebook. Waiting for a response. But not too hopeful based on what I read on his page.

Since 3.5" was not in stock I had to get this.
Fits easily in my 6 with 51r battery.

Hey! Thanks for those pics! Looks GREAT! Eroler1's post had me worried. You didn't have any trouble with the filter hitting shifter cable? Doesn't look like it. For some reason Eroler1 edited his post and removed most of what he said. But the previous version of his post made it sound like it was going to be a terrible fit. But that looks super.

I had to remove the small bracket that holds the o2 sensor cables because the nipple at the bottom was hitting it and there was not enough clearance to connect the bpv hose. Other than that no modification was needed :)

The car is not running just yet, but I see no problem with the shifter cables.

Thanks a bunch! You must be the first kid on the block with a CorkSport 4" on an MS6.

    Yeah, I think so :)
I was worried because CS said it will not work, but I said fuck it I'll make it work somehow.

Also my engine was ready and no other 3.5" was available in under 1 week, so I pulled the trigger.

I can take some more pictures of how it fits tomorrow.

If you all of a sudden want to go back to a 3.5", my JBR silicone is going to be for sale. It was installed once but 0 miles on it. I just got to go pick it up from the shop and I will post it for sale.

I didn’t really think you would want to change now. I will just have to unload the JBR somehow. I saw your location as saying Hungry but I wasn’t sure if it was serious. I guess it is. Cool.

    Gegi,

I've never seen the hot pipe run that way. Usually, I see it run through the hole for the washer fluid. That is how mine is. When I get my 6 back, I will have to look and see how that would work. So, thanks for the pictures. I sent an email to Will and Bett @corksport and pointed them to this thread and told them to look for your post.

Yeah, I've got a bunch of crap to sell. I've also got an HTP 3" and a Cobb stock-turbo intake to sell. I've had an unbelievable number of intakes on this damn car. So, I'll be doing a for-sale thread shortly.

Hey guys, thanks for pointing out this thread to me!

It's worth noting that when we test fit this intake on our shop car it had a non tucked harness, with our FMIC kit on a CS intake manifold. The Speed 6 has a slightly different routing of the main harness that runs from the fuse box over to the engine. It doesn't dip down under the intake as much as the speed 3 one. So, it ends up wanting to occupy the same space as the BPV hose if you have the intake bracketed to the OEM location. We originally designed the intake on a speed 3 to maximize fitment between the 2 generations. We hoped the 6 would fit as a byproduct. It was close... but not quite right.

Our products are usually designed to work with 0 modifications to the car or product. So we have to put it doesn't fit technically because if you mount it in the OEM location and keep your harness in the OEM location.. Your harness and the intake won't want to cooperate.

This is a picture of our 3.5" intake, and you can see how close it is already. The 4" is lower, and they interfere.
    upload_2020-10-26_8-15-13.png

So currently for the speed 6 the options are this.
    1. You don't use the bracket and give yourself more clearance. (be mindful of hood clearance)
    2. You run a VTA valve only
    3. Modify the harness / mounting locations for the harness.

It looks great in Gegi's speed 6. It doesn't look like he still has that OEM mounting bracket But I'm not sure if he's messed with his harness at all.

If you have questions email us sales@corksport.com

It's usually Zach/Will/ and myself answering questions. Will is still learning the platform, as he is relatively new to the company. So if you have any more technically complex questions just give me a holler. Brett@Corksport.com

I do ask that if any speed 6 guys want to see a speed 6 specific fitment they drop a note for us here. It actually helps us gauge interest and see if it's worth the time to stock 2 different intakes.

    Thanks, everyone!

    Brett@CS,

Thanks for responding. I sent you the email pointing to this thread. Anyway, I can’t speak for everyone, I just have a hard time imagine there would be enough demand for you to make a 6 specific version of this. I suppose I could put in a request. But I doubt even I would buy it because I will make do with the one you’ve got. When done I will post pictures.
