So a little about me. I have previously owned a few CRX's with different swaps and setups as well as a couple mustangs with some mods. Never had a boosted car. Owned a black 2006 3 hatch for a while and loved the car. It was fun to drive and plenty of space. Wanted a speed3 for a while but life always had a way of making a new toy implausible. Fast forward to now and I travel for work every week via plane. I had a 2016 Silverado due to household needs and side gigs. Well all the house renovations are done and no more side gigs. I literally just drive the truck to the airport on Monday and back home on Friday. I was tired of a car payment and saw the trade in values had soared so I decided now was the time. I scooped up a modded 13 speed3 yesterday from a local dealership and I couldn't be more pumped.

From what I can tell so far, the mods appear to be a Cobb intake and airbox, Cobb DP, CPE TMIC, and Turbosmart BPV. It appears to be a stock exhaust so I assume the previous owner pulled it to sell or didn't want the car to be loud. The car smokes some under hard acceleration so pretty sure the turbo is getting replaced very soon. I am looking at a BNR S3V4 currently. I will keep an eye on oil levels until that happens. I am planning to order an accessport next week and probably pull the HPFP next weekend to determine if the internals have been upgraded. The car was a one owner according to Carfax so I have been trying to track down the previous owner to try to get more info on the car and mods as the last couple years of service records are local. One of the pics is of the BT connections that were in the car, so if anyone is local to the Raleigh area in NC and recognizes the names and can relate that to the previous owner, I would be appreciative.

Well I believe that should bring everyone up to speed on where I stand currently. I'm here to learn as much as I can from the vets so if anyone has any suggestions for how I proceed, I am all ears. Looking forward to being a member of the community and having some fun times with the Speed3.

    Now for some pics...

Welcome to mso! Glad you found your way into a speed.

if it's stock cat back with the Cobb DP that's perfectly fine not too much restrictions on the cat back fine for k04 and BNRS3 sized turbos although you could start noticing some gains towards to the top end with the S3.

    Good call on confirming hpfp.

Yup turbo could very much be going bnr is an excellent choice.

Did they happen to leave you with an accessport or tell you who tuned it?

No there was not an accessport with the car. That is why I am trying to track down the original owner. I would like to find out if it was tuned with accessport or another method as well as determine if there were other mods done that I have not seen. I also would like to find out if there are any issues I should be aware of or rectify immediately. I feel like the original owner shouldn't mind disclosing that info as I didn't buy it from them so it's not like I got ripped off or anything if there are issues.

I am planning to contact Cobb if I can't track down the original owner before buying the accessport next week as I saw this on their site, "Warning! Installation of this Accessport over anything other than OEM or COBB software may result in ECU/TCU failure. Please contact COBB Support if you have any questions."

If and when I do get a BNRS3 I will upgrade the catback at that time as well. I have been watching vids to try to get an idea of their tones. I like deeper tones and would like to stay away from anything raspy.

Chances are if it was tuned it was Cobb especially given the Cobb parts on the car. That being said could have uninstalled it and sold the accessport, dealership should be able to re-flash original tune for you if it's not, for a fee of course.

Deeper tone will probably be the Cobb or CPE I personally think CPE sounds amazing ultimate racing's is pretty nice too

Yeah I am guessing it was tuned with accessport considering the mods on the car and everything I have read so far, but I just don't want to leave it to chance and end up needing a new ECU. Still hoping I can get up with the original owner.

CPE is the way I am leaning. Watched a few vids and I think it sounds really good.

Understandable, definitely better safe than sorry.

CPE is an excellent choice, I've had their downpipe on my car for almost 100k, winter driven In Canada with salted roads over 6 years and it's holding strong best part, I bought it second hand. Plus that CPE CBE sounds amazing

I appreciate the warm welcome. I will definitely keep everyone up to date on the progress. I was looking and didn't see a builds thread. Do people just make new threads for different updates on their build or did I just miss it?

I blame it on being worn out from work, but I see the build diaries now. Lesson learned, look twice before I make myself look like an idiot.

Once I start getting some parts I will start to document everything with a build diary.
