    Hey guys,

I've had a history of owning mid 90's Skylines for the past 15 or so years and since they are getting super expensive now I've hidden it away in the garage and picked up a 2006 Axela Mazdaspeed (Japanese import) a couple of weeks ago and I've been enjoying it as a daily driver. I'm an auto electrician by trade, although still have a lot to learn about the MZR platform and how to make the most of it.

The Mazdaspeed has done almost 200km, and has a few modifications such as the HPFP mod done, a high flow turbo, lowering springs & some unknown wheels, FMIC, tuned by Versatune (with a pop and crackle tune, which I'm not that fond of), solid rear engine mount, boost gauge, larger dump pipe, and a few more things off the top of my head. Pulls hard, sounds great and hasn't missed a beat. Downsides are that it has a slight chain rattle on start up (I've planned to replace the timing chain and VVT solenoid), has a bad condensation issue in the RH headlamp, and paint is far from perfect but since those are fairly easily remedied, I can't complain.

Plans are to make it mechanically solid, tidy the paint, get some new wheels and a wing extension and enjoy driving it.

    Cheers guys!

    Welcome and congratulations!

You wlll want to handle the chain issue as soon as possible. Oem parts only, the aftermarket ones fail. Here is how to do it! https://www.mazdaspeeds.org/index.p...eed-3-mazdaspeed-6-cx-7-vvt-the-roku-way.855/

As far as the crackle tune, yeah same as the timing chain. Will want to fix that. Are you going to self-tune or get a professional tune? Farhan at Damond Motorsports tunes via Versatuner.

Also, if your front bumper is not flush, RaiderFab.com has solutions!

Thanks for joining and sharing pics of your MPS!

Hey thanks, I've got a local Mazda dealer here and I've priced everything up and will be getting everything timing chain related OEM, although we've got a OEM supplier for electrical parts and I've purchased a revised VVT solenoid through them as it's listed as OEM direct. We've had great success with their parts before so I'm confident it will be alright. If not then I'm not stressed about buying an OEM one and swapping it in.

I'm not sure on the self tune as I've never used Versatune before (I've had Link stand alone ECUs before), so I'm on the hunt for a tuner that can modify the tune for me but I don't think there's anyone in this area of New Zealand who can do a full dyno tune with Versatune?

Bro you don't want to do the timing twice if you can avoid it.
