    I'm Dave and live in Mesa, AZ. I got a Speed3 from my son and decided to restore it as a retirement project. It's a 2010 and I put a new coat of Celestial Blue paint on it, got some inexpensive Drag rims, Pirelli P Zero tires and a bunch of little stuff. Current mods are HPIFP from CS, CS carbon fiber hood scoop, new headlights from Amazon, new bulbs for the interior, HID conversion for headlights, CS short intake, CS strut tower bar, CS rear anti-sway bar and soon the CS RMM. I am not going overboard on mods. In fact, unless something breaks, I think I am done with mods. Just a blast driving around the desert!

    Get a tune for it. Will make a night and day difference. Versatune and Cobb Accessport are the games in town.

    I said that once. Just "reliability mods." Then I broke the turbo in half at 25k mi and all my sense left me.

    Welcome and enjoy.

    Welcome 'round, Padre! I think I recall seeing you on MSF; things are much friendlier over here on MSO....unless your name is @Redline. :p

    Welcome. Hopefully your son left you with an accessport as well. If not scoop one up or snag the versatune bundle. A conservative tune will put a little more pep in your step and help greatly with reliability and drivability.

    Ahoy Dave! That CS rmm is pretty dope. Have it on my JenOne. Just for kicks, try their Stage 2.

    I'm really curious to hear what the vibrations are like with the stage 2 RMM from CS.

    I'm only 64, so if a 92 year old is still driving his Speed, I am really excited for the future. As I am reflecting on this car and my use of it, especially after another Gen2 parked next to me the other day with the full mod treatment and my wife looked at me like "is this your future with this car?" and the immediate answer is NO. I guess I am a "gentleman Speeder". I am looking to improve handling, cornering and that is really it.

    I am delighted with the stock power, though I have added a Stage 2 CS intake. But that's it for me, I think.... I have an amazing and excellent tech at Cardinale Way Mazda in Mesa, AZ named Drew and Service Writer Nick that really treat me right. I have bought 6 Mazdas from them over the years and done a lot of ministry to the employees over the years. Drew knows to let me know if there is anything breaking or wearing out and then I will decide whether to go OEM or aftermarket on the replacement parts needed. This is a fun time for me in my retirement...finally a quick and good handling car I can fit in! I am 6'4" with a long torso so sports cars are out.....at least the ones I can afford.

    I finally got my Accessort v. 3. Based on my mods I set it at Stage 2, 91 octane. It is my “bat outa hell” mode. WOW!

    Get a real tune. OTS maps don't even compare.

    OTS maps are sketchy. We got good tuners here, well worth it.

    What if I am delighted with OTS tune? My car goes faster in a shorter period of time than I have a place to explore said speed and torque. I am overjoyed by this new set up and appreciate that I can set up economy settings for the times I cruise the Interstates here every week.
    [doublepost=1507853059][/doublepost]
    Again, why? Are the sponsoring vendors located in the metro Phoenix area? I appreciate what my options are should I ever decide to autocross, where engine and suspension and I need to be at our best. Truth be told, I am the weakest link in this triad....I have an untreated lazy eye which messes with my depth perception. I can explain the physiology of this situation if anyone is interested. As it is, I am thankful to have these boards that are respectful and encouraging.,,,at least when I can see you..... Thanks for being an awesome Admin dude...

    There's not a "one size fits all" solution for a map. Most of these maps will err on the side of safety and run richer than you really need since that is the safer option. Every car is different and you should at least get a base map with a good mafcal and stuff done. You don't need a local tuner to get this stuff done, you can use one of the reputable tuners here and just send a few emails back and fourth with your logs and his new map revisions. You'll probably get better MPGs after all is said and done anyways.

    Also when you actually add some timing and set load targets, it'll actually be a bat outta hell.

    You'll see a vast improvement in engine response, driveability, and gas mileage with a a tune, even if you aren't tuning for omg-amazeballs-HPs.
