I got a jdm engine that i’ve put around 500 miles on but it’s had timing issues. I did the timing chain, tensioners, and installed a new vat actuator, but i still had the p0016. last night I did the vvt control solenoid thinking it would be the last part to get ride of the code but no dice… what else could be causing the p0016? it seems to run great i’m not on any tune but the check engine lights causing some stress still

I agree, finding a low mile/heathy motor for a platform that is a decade old is rare, i doubt the jdm motors for sale today are still coming across the pond with 50-60k miles.

Cam and crank sensors could be your issue assuming all timing component were assembles correctly, check the thread raider sent
