new guy here, usually just read other posts and kept up on few threads. But ran into a problem yesterday figured any opinions would be welcome.
Long story short drove car to work yesterday, upon arrival oil was all over side of car and engine bay. oil dipstick had popped off. thought since i just did oil change maybe had forgotten to seat, but way to much pressure to evacuate 2 quarts of oil. thinking Ringland is screwed, compression test was 180 #1 165 for other 3. Bought leak down tester but will tackle that tomorrow. cars a 2012 53k full bolt on tuned stratified on e30. Any input or options would be great but from my reading not looking good. oh and oil changed every 3k

Compression standard of per manual: min 129.96psi, max difference between cylinders 28.5psi as per manual.

You only have 15psi difference, you're within spec. usually we say within 10%, you're at 8.69% difference. IMO it's More likely that you have a cylinder at higher compression than 3 pooched as 165 is a good number.

Could be as simple as the oring on the dipstick needing replaced, could have some high crank case pressure that needs to be vented.

What turbo how much boost, stock engine?

Would a compression test reveal a bad ringland? I assumed leakdown test to verify. Yes stock motor, stock turbo, 20 psi tapers down to 18ish. My friend said same thing about o ring on dipstick, I figured that much crankcase pressure bad ring. Still idles fine when refilled with oil

Oring on the dipstick can wear down and then pop I think @Raider had an issue of it the dipstick working it way up if I recall correctly.

Crank case pressure needs to be vented could be a clogged PCV on stock setup if nothing else has changed.

Yeah you'd want a leak down test to see about ringlands that's where I'd go next for peace of mind.

Thank you sir, definitely gave me something else to investigate, I thought about both o ring and pcv , just automatically guessed the worst, I will keep updating

so finally got to leak down test, not good. all were done at 65 psi
    1 at 65
    2 55
    3 55
    4 52
cylinder 4 seems worst, and air was quickly leaking from valve cover vent and dipstick tube
not sure were i should go forward from here. i literally just purchased stoptech brake kit, bnr3 and 3 inch intake, along with short shifter and few other odds n ends
