Potential problem. Went to pump gas at a pump I've used before and it acted like tank was full. As soon as I pulled the handle, pump would shut off. If I pumped super slow, it would work but I could hear fuel or vapor filling up in the filler neck. I was able to get 8 gallons in and left.

Had car 2 months and first time this happened. I have a p2402 for the evap pump but I've had that code since day one. I guess it could be the gas pump itself, but I've read a little about maybe the evap canister being plugged??? Never had this ISSUE on any past vehicle.

    Ideas of what to check?

Found one past thread saying it could be a few things, definitely something for next weekend...

    Plugged evap canister is common.

Update. Different gas pump resulted in same thing, except gas overflowing under car. Had to quit pumping.

Will address this weekend and hopefully have a fix to post for others.

Completely removed evap filter, same problem. I was under the car and see the evap canister and the purge valve assembly. I read about a hose labeled 3/4 to try and remove. Read that removing it can bypass problems with the canister.

I plan to remove one of the hoses on the canister, the one labeled purge. Anyone know exactly which hose is 3/4?

I have had an issue where the pump doesn't shut off and I get a splash of fuel spill out on/down the car for the 6 months or so. No matter what pump, station, or if I placed nozzle deep in the hole or just the tip :handpointright::handok::thumbsup: Didn't do it for the first 65k miles of the car.
I assumed I was just failing at life (might still be), but you now have me thinking that perhaps something is amiss.

If this happens every time for you, sounds like you have the exact opposite problem as me. I'm not sure exactly what it is but either a valve in the tank or the evap system is supposed to stop the gas pump when enough pressure builds.

If I ever find out my problem, I'll let you know.
