Hey guys, previous speed owner. 3 years ago I had to trade my speed3 in for a more fuel efficient vehicle for work. i was apart of the other forum so i am glad to see a new beginning and kept up to date forum, so thanks! Recently found a 2007 speed3 on Craigslist that I could buy out right for $1300. Pretty wicked, it’s the exact car minus the VINs of what I had lol. Owner said it was misfiring (P0300) and claimed to have low compression in cylinder 4. Battery was dead to all hell. Replaced battery and a fresh set of correctly gapped plugs. Car started right up, it is misfiring. Got a P0304 code with an accessport. Cylinder 4 plug is wet, not oily. Tested compression with a HF comp tester and has 148,148,130,0 comp. going to pull the head and see whats going on. A friend is donating a head to me if it checks out good after pulling.

any way heres a video. body is fair, some rust in the rear wells/lower quarter. owned in Pittsburgh, PA most its life it seems. im happy i got a speed back and can't wait to get it on the road and finish what i wanted to do with the previous one.

Not bad for a barely running Speed! Welcome back, and good luck on the build.

Oh, take off the side moldings!

They don't protect jack on a first gen; the widest part of the door is as wide or wider than the trim.

Thanks! I may we'll see lol.

    thanks!

lmao, got a girlfriend. I'm hoping its something simple. its got 119k on it. 2nd owner didn't mod but i can the first owner did. 2nd owner had it about 3 years until it popped the p0300 and i guess he didn't want to spend the money to fix it. he didn't seem to know anything and was lost when i asked him questions. could be a good or bad thing, i guess we'll find out lmao.
[doublepost=1525298185][/doublepost]heres a pic of my previous speed.

I meant to ask earlier but can injector seals cause total loss of compression? I was thinking it would still have some comp since the hole is restricted and not completely open but then I don’t know, I’ve never experienced it.

Hey guys here’s an update. Found out why cylinder 4 has no compression. Burnt valve!

First pulled the intake manifold to check those valves and they checked out to be good so I decided to just yank the whole motor. Worked over the past month little by little removing the motor. Today got the exhaust manifold off and found this. [IMG][IMG]

Hello all. I apologize for bumping a 2 year old thread but it is apart of this journey. Have some time to give an update due to current circumstances in the world. I think it was July of 2018, I got an engine from jdm engine depot that was from a gt cx7. I just wanted to get something to get the car on the road and rebuild the original motor later. Popped the valve cover and the pin in the vvt was busted, gone. Sent motor back to jdm engine depot. Forward to September 2018, I bought an engine from a guy near by. It sounded like he didn't know much about the engine as he said it was stock motor and he swapped with built motor. Well, I had moved a couple months after getting the motor and put project to the side as I had other things to focus on. Some time last year I popped the valve cover and pulled oil pan. The bottom end of the motor is built.

So I don't know if the guy truly didn't know or if he got me. I've been questioning and don't want to put the work in to put the motor in to find out something is wrong. I got it for 5 bones so its not much of loss. It seems to have manley rods and wiseco pistons. I stuck an endoscope down each cylinder to check the walls and tops of pistons and everything looks fine. It spins freely. I've just been so hesitant to install it. I got a quote from a shop to inspect and do a refresh on it and looking to proceed with it but just want to wait to see how this covid19 situation plays out. Luckily I am still employed but I can't see dropping major coin for something when it's possible I could need money if something happens. Just wanted to update, sorry for the ramble but I have attached some pics and a link to a video.
