Stock Height Suggestions

Looking for suggestions.

I'm looking to keep my car at stock ride height, while fixing the sagging rear end that it has.

I'm thinking of getting some Bilstein B6's, HD's, whatever you want to call them, and keeping the stock springs. Is this a good idea? Has anyone done this?

Also, do you think my sagging is from worn out shocks or worn out springs? There doesn't appear to be any damage/leaking on the shocks, but the car does have 120,000 miles and they look to be originals. I would hate to put new Bilsteins on and still have the sagging. It definitely sags a lot with passengers in the back.

Opinions?

Not that anyone cares, but I did end up installing Bilsteins's all the way around with stock springs. It did not fix the sag issue.

So my guess is that the rear springs are worn out, and the fronts aren't, for some reason. The back is quite bouncy. Now I'm considering either getting new OEM springs, or going to a higher spring rate, while keeping stock ride height.

This will probably require adjustable spring perches, and slightly shorter springs. Any recommendations on spring rate for a comfortable DD that doesn't bounce and roll all over the place on twisty back roads?

 

I'm still shocked you don't want to lower it at all haha.

 

Being daily driven it would be way to impractical. A lowered car would never make it past the end of my driveway. And the monster truck look doesn't really bother me. Kind of reminds me of a rally car.

 

Try stock springs first in the rear and see what happens. 120,000 miles doesn't seem like much but you would be surprised at the wear an tear suspension parts go through.

Also bushings play a major part in sagging suspensions also.

 

FWIW, I'm at just under stock ride height (maybe .25-.5" drop) with my GC coilovers and 375lbs/in front and 430lbs/in rear springs. I love the fact that the car's capabilities are greatly increased, especially feeling much more solid at high speeds, yet I don't have to creep over everything to not bottom out, or scrape on things like speed humps.

 

What do you mean by the back is quite bouncy? Do you think the Bilstein's caused the bounciness?

 

What I meant by that was that I could push down on the back of the car quite easily and compress the shocks. It wasn't caused by the Bilsteins, but by the completely worthless rear springs.

I did end up getting stiffer springs and adjustable perches. It simultaneously stiffened the suspension while softening the ride quality. I'm pretty certain that the stock springs were so worn that the car was riding around on the bump stops. So stiffer springs actually made it ride a lot softer because it's actually using the springs now. And it's much more stable around corners.

 

Thanks for that. So Bilstein B8's with stock springs are causing the bounce. What stiffer springs did you go with? And which adjustable perches fit our car? I'm looking to stiffen the rear end without lowering the car or changing ride height. I think I can get lowering springs with adjustable perches to retain stock height.

 

Checkout Landrum performance springs. Measure what you have and match up a spring to your liking.

 

Thanks. I emailed Landrum and they said they do not make any springs for the Speed6. I guess I'm going to have to go with lowering springs and an adjustable spring perch. What did you use on your car?

 

Custom obviously bud. I will get you the specs when i can find them.

 

Isc rear perches with landrum 550 front springs confirmed fitment would work and they fit perfect. Land550 8” x 5.5” front springs.
