I think it’s time I start inquiring about a professional tune
You’ll need the car, accesstuner & APR ?

I plan on enrolling, but waiting on the funds to start rolling it

    Thanks!

If you want a Professional tune as you stated you need the car, access port, send a tuner some money either freektune, purple drank or hypnotic are the only 3 I'd personally recommend (nishan is around but and hard to get ahold of at present time from what I hear).
Pro tuning online is easy, you log the dam data as you would on the dyno with the access port, send them the logs and you get a revision, repeat. Down side is if you're properly maxing 4th gear you're speeding pretty good on the streets....that being said you can do it in 3rd gear depending on power goals

If you want to self tune then you need to get access tuner race and do a course online in tuning which will go over the basics of tuning then you can start getting into that.

If you want to go a slightly cheaper tune version while you're adding mods, let's say simple hpfp internal, intake, perhaps another then a freektune ots+ map is a great option because you send him some logs and he'll dial in some calibrations for you.

Self tune requires ATR and it is tied to the serial on your AP. The class is like 100$ so factor that into your decisions. I would recommend Purple Drank of Freek. The big advantage to self tune is that you can make changes as needed and not pay touch up fees. BUT you need ATR and to know how to tune which in itself takes a lot of time. Like was said above that OTS+ might be what you are looking for right now.

I have done self tuning with megasquirt, haltech, and aem systems which are nice cause you can watch live data and make adjustments on the fly. Saves a lot of time instead of having to stop, pull logs, make adjustments then reflash.

I decided for this car to have Freektune tune it mostly cause I'm too busy with work and life to sit down and really take the time for it. He has done a good job. Only downside is lack of communication. I asked what changes are being made etc such as more or less timing, boost levels etc but he doesnt really answer those questions. Not trying for specifics as tuners want to keep certain things secret but it would be nice to know what's changed with each revision. Only time he told me what was changed was boost levels being targeted to see where the turbo could get to and hold.

Usually it takes about a week for him to get a revision sent back to you.
