So cutting to the chase, I have an issue with my idle oil pressure dropping too low when my engine inevitably gets into the 210+ F range. I have been running T6 as this has really good heat resistance properties and the oil seems to thin out slower than the Mobil1 I ran previously. I do not want to run T6 anymore, I know it is really not the right oil for the motor. Additionally, I am running a little higher idle RPM to keep that pressure between 17 and 22. Don't want to do this anymore either.

The only time I have pressure issues is at the top of the temp range. As long as the motor doesn't get up over 210, the idle oil pressure is right where it needs to be. Back in the day I had the SP63 fan controller kit, but it was junk and had to get replaced 3 times before I depleted their stock and they decided to not make them anymore. So problem still not solved.

I added a koyorad and 2 additional small pusher fans that I have on manual switches for if I get stuck in standstill traffic. This doesnt keep it from getting up there, but it slows it down. The issue is that the factory fan wont kick on until 219F.

So I am inquiring, has anyone run one of the many aftermarket fan controllers out there, like Mishimoto's? If so, was anyone able to get this unit to control the factory fan, or did you have to install an additional pusher fan for this to control? Any thoughts or insight on this are valuable. Just want to get some more miles out of the car this summer, but my drive has a lot of stop and go, which is a no go for the speed. FWIW it is a built motor big turbo car.

Turning on the AC starts the fans, cold or hot, which is what I use to keep temps stable between runs at events. You can crank the heat up with AC on and evacuate the temps pretty fast.

Are you running an external oil cooler?

That's a neat idea, you may already have a "fan controller" button with the AC gone but the logic telling the ECU to start the fans? Worth a shot.

Yes I am running the Mishimoto 10 row cooler

Additionally, anybody run this on their car?

My next question, looking at the wiring it appears that the ecu sends a signal to a separate fan ecu that sends out two sets of two wires; two wired for each fan. Common sense would tell me these are simply power and ground cables making me wonder if I can A) use a controller to use the factory fans and B) whether or not the car would freak out if it sensed that it had no fans. Hmmmm. Would love to avoid putting a pusher on the front.

I ordered the the thermostat and the Davies Craig fan controller, going to try to hook it direct to factory fans and bypass factory fan ECU. Will report back with results.

Please let us know the before and after results.
Interesting to see if the results changes your low oil pressures.

I can't remember if it was a relay issue or the potentiometer itself.

I did get this system installed and it has worked really well thus far. Temps stay right where I want them, oil pressure under control, all great stuff. Until a new issue I'll save for another thread....

Definitely looking into another controller because I can’t get this one to power up without grounding it out. Definitely looking into the mishimoto fan controller. What temps are you seeing with your new setup?

I have them dialed to right where I want them. The fan was kicking on around 178 and off at 168ish if i remember correctly. I can adjust this in 1* increments
