Never seen an eco boost at the track. I’ve seen the odd 5.0 but those guys are never drivers. Usually just first timers.

These do seem to be alright. There’s a few that visit the local tracks around here. Aside from crazy tire consumption they do seem solid

Update on the Wiseco incident here.

They have asked me to send in the pistons/pins. They will forward them to the head office in Ohio. I asked straight up are they going to do anything for me or is this just a waste of time?

He said "They'll inspect the pistons, the wrist pins are bent, they'll do something for you". That was all I got. So who knows? We'll see

I guess I’ll send the rod/piston combo since it’s all jammed together currently? Or should I hammer the pins out?

Im just wondering if they’ll try to blame it on something else. You know, the way the world works these days

I’d leave it all as is. They are paying shipping?

So I’ll leave everything as it currently is. I’ve removed the C clips and tried hammering out the pins already. I’ll leave that note I guess.

So Wiseco Canada is 45 minutes away from me. I was gonna drive the pistons to them and they’ll ship them to Ohio.

Other option is just ship the pistons to Wiseco Canada and they’ll forward them off to Ohio. Not sure when I’ll have a chance to drive up to Wiseco

After speaking to wiseco head office in Ohio just now, they mentioned a lot of information that wiseco Canada didnt mention. The guys first question which was the correct question was K24 or K20, and how much RPM?

He told me right away this piston comes with 0.137" wall wrist pin which should not exceed 8200-8500 for any real duration. He said on K24 these pins are failing a lot and lately there has been some noise at wiseco head office regarding this.

The guy also told me that Adam from wiseco Canada has all authority to do whatever he likes. He can send me an entire engine if he wants to. So why waste any time to send these pistons for inspection when we know the failure?

USA wiseco guy also told me they would only do visual inspection, they will measure it, they will check the metallurgy to confirm the hardness. He told me wiseco has been known to help in these cases so I am on the fence if it is actually worth it to send this stuff to wiseco or we just say screw it.

My tuners concern is they're going to destroy the pistons/pins and simply blame the RPM and tell me to F off. I get where hes coming from

Didn’t record it. That would’ve been too smart. I honestly didn’t know what to expect. It seems there’s a wide knowledge gap among these guys.

Not sure what’s next. My tuner is already like naw fuck Wiseco we use a different brand in the future. One he has experience with.

This entire fucking build was spec’d by my tuner. Everything minus the pistons. He told me straight up “I don’t have experience with wiseco so I can’t confidently recommend it. It will be on you”

well here I am now. The only piece he didn’t sign off on failed and f*ucked me. Too bad

Sucks for sure. I don’t even think all the back and forth here is worth it. Soon as buddy mentioned an rpm limit that feels like a cop out. Now they can blame me for the rpm. I don’t know

You would have told them the platform and rpm you were gunning for though yeah?

Mentioned it to the girl at the Wiseco Canada shop where I bought the pistons. I had actually mentioned k20, time attack, and 9500rpm many times. I was told this is the best setup for my goals

What do you have to lose by sending them the pistons? None of the parts are salvageable right?

Pistons are all throw away. Rods would be ok though.

My tuner wants to do his own inspection at his lab for science. Obviously we know what happened but he wants to see the stuff.

I could send to him then have him send it back but I don’t know how long Wiseco is gonna want to wait for this

Send it to Wiseco first. If they have to pony up for an engine then let them. Or at least give them a chance to do so.

If you can call the guy in Ohio back and get an email address for him. Have him give you everything he said in writing. It isn't him you'd have to go after in court it's the company.

Not that you would take them to court anyways it's more of a cover your ass thing. They admitted to knowing they're having failures and what the limits are. If they said those parts would be fine what other reason would you have but to not trust them?

Good luck with this. I'd like to know what they'll do for you.

I am thinking I’ll send everything to Wiseco. I’ll talk to my tuner and he should understand. He’d just really like the pieces back after for himself to inspect

Just performed a leak down test on my Facebook market place mystery motor and came up with less than 5% across all 4 holes.

I also did a compression test. 185-190psi across all 4. This is on an ice cold engine that hasn’t been started since yesterday. Not freaking bad.

Impressive. I’m gonna say the oil burning is entirely the valve seals/guides. This thing might be a good candidate for my winter upgrades. Sick!!

Still gonna buy another long block to keep as a spare though. Learned my lesson on that

Rods/pistons have been dropped off to wiseco. Let’s see how this goes. Would be nice to get a few bucks out of them but I expect nothing.

Spent sometime today cleaning up the garage a little and getting it ready for another engine pull.

This will be like 3 times this season? Too many times for sure lol

Sad times now that the season is over. I’ve been driving the car around a bit and the decal seems to get a lot of attention. People like it. I like it. Cannot wait for the 2025 season. Now for the depression to hit
