    Hey gang,

Just came over from MSF. I hope to learn just as much here, if not more. I'm 2 years deep into modding my '12 Speed3 and approaching 3 years of ownership in June - still loving the hell out of her! Before getting a Speed3 I had ZERO experience/knowledge when it came to anything car related. If someone asked me what OBD or HPFP stood for I'd tell them that it is probably a videogame acronym like CoD. I've always been into the import car scene and even used to own an '87 Turbo II RX-7 and go to all of the HiN shows in the bay area. But that was back in high school when I thought I was cool. I didn't have the money or know-how to do anything with the car and wound up selling it. So, it feels pretty damn good to finally come full circle, return to the Mazda platform and bust my knuckles a bit.

Right now I'm looking into going BT (regardless of the looming Tax Man). So any recommendations, additional mod paths/parts needed, pre-existing threads already up on here, etc. would be appreciated.

Also, if anyone is up in the Sac area, please hit me up. Just moved up here last Feb and need some Mazda buddies.

Welcome - choice of turbo really depends on what your power goals are, if you want to go EWG or stay IWG, if you plan on building the block in the future, meth injection, etc.

Just really how far down the rabbit hole do you want to go?

    Welcome. Maybe get a S3/4.

I'm also looking to go BT with EWG and hopefully stay TMIC

See, these are things I need to learn more about and weigh in on before my dumbass goes looking for a new turbo. For the most part I'd like to keep her as my daily...maybe take her to the strip every so often. And by daily I work remotely so I only drive about 30-40 mi a month. Just barely hit 33K last weekend.

Decide on a power goal and then choose a turbo that will meet that goal. Go high enough and you'll have to look into more fuel or alternative fueling.

    Welcome!

    Welcome.
Just to add one thing to what everyone said so far, is to think about what kind of fuel you can/want to run. Depending on your power goal, you might be ok with just E85 mix, or you might need to inject some meth.... or if you're going for some big power #s, you might start looking into PI. Anyhow, to make use and have fun with a BT, you usually have to consider one of those options.
