Wondering if I’d be able to get the nav display and change the screen out with an updated one or possibly an aftermarket radio

I don’t like the idea of removing the stock items from this one. Trying to keep it as original as possible with at least updating it to a more modern feel

    No. And I'll explain why.
    1) eew. Nav DVD updates are at minimum 13 years old. It's DVD based so live traffic data doesn't help and with it being ancient, may send you into a bad place.
    2) wiring harnesses are different. That's probably #1.
    3) Eonon is 200 bucks and is faster and superior to oem.

I had oem navigation on my gen1 ms3. Sucked new. Last year I pulled it out and swapped in parts from non nav ms3. Eonon replaced.

I guess my intention is not to have the old navigation but to use the space for a more modern set up. I’m assuming what you did was what I’m talking about

I sold the system to a guy who tapped power and used it to load a tablet. Kinda far to reach while driving.

The OP was wanting to mainly retain the OEM stuff. Myself, I don't care about keeping anything OEM that I don't want.

I never heard of Eonon. I googled, and it seems to be an Android setup. I tried an Android. Didn't like it. I am currently using the Metra dash kit with an 11" Kenwood head unit. Yeah, that's huge and blocks the buttons. I don't need them often.

It's Android but I use apple CarPlay on it without a problem. I rarely mess with anything else.

I was thinking of doing crutchfield since they have the same bezel or something similar, wanted to get a Bose branded display though to keep the Bose theme. Has the one you used been fine for sound quality? A lot cheaper on your set up it seems (price wise I mean, no idea about quality)

I don’t know about the specific unit Raider has, but Android head units are not known for sound quality. That said, some Android head units have optical output. If you pair it with an amp or DSP with optical input, you should get good quality.

oh, and Bose is overrated. I’m half tempted to cut out the integrated plastic speaker grill in the doors and replace them with a quality metal grill just to get rid of the damn Bose logo.

Ya I’m not cutting out anything lol, I’m not saying that Bose is great I’m just trying to keep everything as clean and stock as possible while adding a little bit more modernization

Your car, your choice. Though I don’t personally see much value in retaining a stock look in a nearly 20 year old car. Up to you. Now clean, not showy or gaudy, that I totally understand.

So my opinion for what I consider modern is just that, clean and almost stock looking. The bezel replacements from crutchfield and others with the double din is honestly fine and probably what I’ll go with. Something that is full touchscreen and maybe a volume knob. Would love to have a spot for wireless CarPlay and charging but I don’t see how I can make that happen without hacking up the console. I could maybe route a pad into the upper tray for the center console for wireless but I dunno

I ain’t getting rid of this car ever so it will have plenty of time
