I own a 2007 MS6 that is slightly modded, here is the list:

stage 1 luk clutch 2 years
    firdenza flywheel
    complete cobb intake
    cobb tuner (included)
cobb stage 2 otc tune using mohawk 91 octane
    stock turbo
    cobb bpv
    cpe rear motor mount
    autotech hpfp internals
custom turbo back exhaust - hi flow cat, mid pipe resonator and magna flow mufflers (spring 2019)
    aftermarket command start
vvt fix with new timing chain and guides, v/c, int gaskets etc oem parts
Aftermarket belt, water pump, idler pulley and tensioner
2 ac lines with recharge (during original safety when i bought the car)
ngk ignition coils and spark plugs
spin on oil filter swap last year
front subframe replaced with alignment late 2020

I also spent about 3K on bodywork to get it nice and minty

The other day after some prolonged issues of cylinder misfire my engine started knocking bad (knocking frequency increases with RPM increase) after hard acceleration. Up to this point it would only misfire and throw an engine code. Prior I replaced coils and sparkplug, eventually did compression and is was low in one cylinder. after incident I limped it home and towed it to a shop. They said one cylinder had no compression and it probably through a rod, don't know for certain. They are telling me engine swap will be 5500-6500 for used motor. I found on kijiji some used motors ranging from 1800 for entire damaged car to 3000 for a JDM motor with 84k. I have a few questions.:

JDM motor guy says has more horsepower than NA motor due to larger Turbo - Is this true? ( Couldn't find anything)
Does anyone know good shop to rebuild? If i am into it for 6K, seems like a rebuild might be a better option? I live in Winnipeg MB so anyone local would love input/thoughts on good shops

Sounds like the rodd is bent. Don't try to run it anymore you can measure down through the spark plug holes to see if the pistons are at different heights. Jdm motors are the same I would build over buying a used motor

Jdm engines are total trash. That's probably the problem

JDM engine's are usually from a cx7 and they have a shittier turbo on them.... They're usually thrashed and poorly maintained wouldn't go that route. I don't know of any local builders in Winnipeg. I know Chris ward turbo chargers is working with a builder and is at least in Canada

Thanks for the info. I am talking to the guys at CW turbochargers. I am hoping I can finance it even if over a few months. Christmas kicked my a$$ this year. I am waiting on some compression numbers on a motor I sourced in Calgary where my buddy lives. If the numbers are good I may get that

Hey just spoke with Jay from Bob Speed. Nice guy. Always nervous about sending big dollars to a stranger. Does anyone have experience with Jayson?
