Autotech HPFP upgraded internals was on the mod list so I have to assume that it was upgraded. I'll have to take it back apart to get a picture of what I am talking about and will do that tomorrow morning. It sat over top of the spring and you could push up on it to compress it in. It might have been part of that other piece the fuel pump sets into. I'm doing a terrible job describing this. I'll just get pictures tomorrow lmao

and niiiice, I have family in Hampton. I am located in Luray VA which is like in the middle of harrisonburg and winchester.

Agreed. When I got home and tried to turn the car over for shits and giggles the battery still had charge and it went like normal. It's a duracell battery that I took out of my fusion I've been using as a daily

Oh, middle of nowhere like me lol. Nobody around but trees and mountains and flat and trees. Very pretty area. Closest person I know is gonna in Manassas or Centerville. I'll reach out and see what I come up with.

    And yes... Pictures are easy.

hahaha yep, exactly. In the middle of the mountains. At least it's pretty. I appreciate that. Manassas isn't that bad but it's still about 1 1/2 hrs away lol.

Not bad at all, almost 14 years ago, we drove from Virginia Beach, to Baltimore to help a friend time their car then to New Jersey for an early morning cars and coffee and back to Virginia Beach all in like 24hrs LMFAO. GOD WHAT A TRIP. Everyone used to do that kinda stuff back in the day.

Anyway, yeah, I'll let you know what I hear as far as someone who can help that's closer.

Looking over stuff again this morning I found two bolts that were in the wrong spots on manifold/fuel rail. Flipped them to the right spots and tried to start it for shits and giggles and got one loud bang and that was it. First time I’ve heard that but idk if it’s a good or bad sign

That's questionable. What kinda bang. Like ignition bang? Or metal bang?

Maybe I checked the wrong thing when checking timing. Going to kind of go back to square one with this part and read through your guide extensively as we go through it. But really think that's the most likely culprit, here.

Took the cover off just while looking at a few things and put the TDC bolt back in and cranked it to TDC. These are the markings at the top/VVT. The white line was put there by the previous owner but it appears to line up with the little notch on the vvt. CKPS is lined up with the 20th tooth as well while at TDC. What am I missing to verify timing?

I still have the fuel pump and everything on and that last cap so this was really best I could get. I can take it off though when I get done making dinner. Other side should be straight across just like this one though on the end. At least it was before lol

That's the key you need to confirm the other cam is straight across as well. What did you use to make sure they were straight originally? Are you sure that you don't have the cams upside down?

Okay. I’ll pull all that side off tomorrow like I wanted to do today. We did crank the engine a couple rotations manually and then set it back at tdc to check they were still lined up. I used that special service tool that holds them in place. Put a screenshot below what I’m referring to. Unless I’m thinking too many steps behind here

Dude. I really think you are right about the cams. I may have them upside down.

Jist look at the top of the cams. I was standing on the exhaust side when I took this. The lobes above cylinder 1 (right side in this picture, or passenger side in the car) Should be pointed up together just like this. If they look like this at TDC then all good.

But, I think you have. The TDC pin set before it's actually in TDC cylinder one. Pull the pin, and spin it till you see the lobes on cylinder one come together to match up.

Problem number one I see here for me immediately is I believe I forgot to put that gasket on in the middle.... smh. Anyway, that makes sense. Do believe we missed that step making sure about cylinder 1. I guess in my head, once the TDC Pin was in, it'd just turn and hit the pin when it's actually at TDC.

Alright gents. After reading through all of your guides some more, talking to ya'll, and looking over what I've got going right now the past day or two... There are a couple things I didn't do correctly. I didn't replace harmonic balancer bolt, I am missing a friction washer, I was missing a gasket completely under the cover (which I already had...), and when setting TDC originally, I did not ensure piston 1 was up so I don't think the engine was actually at TDC from the beginning. Harmonic balancer has a few teeth broken on it so I went ahead and ordered a new one, more friction washers, and a new bolt. If that stuff shows up this weekend, should be able to go ahead and knock everything out since weather looks decent. If they don't come until next week you can bet your ass I'm taking PTO the day they arrive. Between the drained bank account and however many hours of labor so far, This car got me looking like this the past month > :godsdrink0nw:

Appreciate the hell out of all of ya for all the help thus far. I'd be in a YouTube wormhole for months without ya'll lol.

Oh noooooo bro... Dang man... Well, when you get to this, let me know. I'll happily give you my number so you can call for immediate answers. I do work 8am-7pm M-F. Outside of those hours I can respond almost immediately.

This sucks. But super happy you figured it out. I'll be putting mine back together this weekend as well if parts show up.

EDIT: I should not that's Mountain time.
