Good morning folks, I originally became a member here back in March of 2010 when I was 19 and bought an 08 Mazdaspeed3. My SN was BigBurd too back then but I couldnt get my old account pulled up.

I had sold the genwon ms3 in 2016 for a brand new mazda3 2.0 (6 speed manual though). It's now at almost 160k miles and I've been looking at newish WRX's ready to replace it. However in the midst of this, I've stumbled upon several speed3's and am thinking about jumping on another GenWon with 101k miles for 9500. Anywho, I'm going to try and go look at it today and try and give them 8500, but I really want one again and might give them asking if its clean. The one thing keeping me from pulling the trigger is parts availability, is there still pretty solid support? Would love rebuild a motor and have a cornfed 400ish genjuan.

Tl;DR Brownie here, where did Haltech go? PhillyB ever come back? What about Rodrigo or the Finkle? I still see Raider and Easter Bunny and a few other familiar faces. Back when I was on the forum I was 19 and a noob, and you guys tolerated my antics and taught me a lot. Since then I've worked as a machinist for 10 some odd years and want to attack a speed3 project again but this time with a head on my shoulders.

This is actually a different website. Mazdaspeedforums is defunct

    Parts are still readily available

    Whalecum to mso!

Haltech ran the old place (msf) into the ground, there's a lot to unpack there but let's not.raider started mso back in 2016, most of us came over here. Finkle isn't tuning anymore sadly, quite a few the OGs like bunny, sho, enki, Mario, are kicking around still some don't have speeds but still share knowledge. Go to tuners are freektune or purpledrank Justin / Will are killing it.

Part support is still there Damond motorsports is making some banging mounts these days and intakes to make up for the lass of htp, corksport is making cast intake and exhaust manifolds that are tmic compatible which is awesome, still guys making wire harnesses for us, Steve is still running adapted performance making great gaskets. Overspeed is the go to for injector seals and engines.

Certainly support and can get parts

Thanks for the update! Awesome to hear there's still a solid bunch around. No drama is good drama so no need to go there, but very happy to hear Raider got this up and going and kept a place the mazdaspeeders. Hide yo couch because he will find it!! When you say Steve do you mean Predapio or however his SN was spelled?

On my old MS3 I did a HKS SRI, COBB TI, Koni Yellows on Stock Springs, JBR Sway Bars and 88duro trilogy mounts. TWM full replacement shifter and a few other odds and ends I'm probably missing. Going to start there when I get a new car to get peace of mind then want to attack the motor and do a GTX3076 equivalent or something of the likes. 370ish to the wheels is what I always wanted to reach but never did.

I do not recall what Steve was on MSF, I know him as turbo steve, I was only on MSF at the end of '13. other than the TWM you can still do all that ;)

Predapio is not the same Steve. Predapio locked his gen 1 and traded it in on a focus st while it still ran. He then disappeared.

Your mod path is good but those brands aren't the best parts anymore

    Edit: hydro locked

    Ahh gothca. Thanks.
I had looked at the ST's and even though I like them a lot I can't see owning one. I'm trying to find a gen 1 that's not been used and abused and possibly under 100k. There's a Genpu with 48k a few miles from my house I might check out but I'm pretty set on getting a first gen again. Mine was at 170k miles on the original clutch and turbo with zero issues and I drove her hard.. they're great cars if taken care of.

    Hope to be returning soon!

Just get the gen 2 at this point the fewer miles and fewer years is going to be worth it

Welcome to the new hotness! Glad you are up to speed. Get it, speed? LOL. Anyway, turbo steve I am pretty sure is actually Adapted Performance here, a vendor.

You can donate here to support, we do have monthly raffles like $50 for any MSO vendor of your choice. LOTs of stuff still being developed between a few good companies.

I made MSO as the alternative to MSF after that owner vanished and became a cunt. You will like it here, greenie. :)

Thanks Raider!! I appreciate it! I am on the hunt for a genwon speed3, white or silver preferred but red is okay. Going to take my time though, almost pulled a trigger on one but it had spent too much time in the snow for my liking. I really want to find one that has spent most of it's life here in the AZ valley and is relatively rust free. Car prices are crazy expensive right now but the hunt is on.

Oh I know. I'm still doing Carfax. If you donate to support the forum you will spot the thread in metal member general. Great way to filter trash.
