So... I'm trying to find an intake leak. I've successfully hooked up my smoke machine to the plumbing before the throttle plate, but I can't seem to find a way to open the throttle plate without running the engine. When I turn on accessory power and put a brick on the pedal, nothing happens. I'm able to confirm the lack of throttle movement, by watching the throttle position PID on my OBD app. Pedal position PID moves up and down as expected, but the throttle position value remains static. Anyone know how to open the throttle to allow smoke to get into the intake manifold? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello and welcome have you tried searching at all? Because you'll see that you need to boost leak test the car from pre MAF and block off the hose from the VC to intake. You can bubble check the connections. Also even if the throttle plate is "closed" it's not fully closed and air / smoke can pass. Typically the manual actuation is done on a bench by adding power.

Thanks for the quick reply! This is great info. My search terms weren't bringing that thread up. I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction.

Happy to help, the search function that's built in is a little funky most use Google "boost leak test site:mazdaspeeds.org"
The site and following info will limit results to this website
